What was the BJP's objection to the Nuclear deal anyway ? Only that it was achieved by a rival party ? Just shows the hypocratic nature of our politicians.
It is funny. Pakistan treats US with contempt and the US feeds it billions of dollars and other aids. Indian leaders, whether BJP or the Congress licks US backsd and yet the US treats India with disdain. I guess that is self respect which Pakistan has.

You are telling the half story. India is getting what it deserves in terms of many more billion dollars of aid and investments. BTW, it is Congress that licks US and not BJP. On the other hand, BJP had remained firm on its stand in many situations (the first time in India's history): 1. Nuclear explosions 2. Vajpayee govt. successfully facilitated creation of strong BRIC group. At Cancun, Arun Jaitly with the help of other BRIC leaders managed to defeat US and European proposals that were unfair tp India's farmers. Today, BRIC leaders have better representation in G20. This is Vajpayee's strategy that has paid. 3. During Kargil war, India rejected calls from US and only discussed peace after recovering control of entire Indian occupied region. If that was Congress govt, India would have lost another pie from the map. 4. Although, Vajpayee govt supported peace with Pakistan, they took firm stand after parliament attack and did not budge to US pressure for resumption of peace talks. Vajpayee remained firm on not including Kashmir as core issue and only agreed for talks when Musharraf gave up and accepted India's standpoint.

I dont think Point 3 is correct, the pakistani army had a very good position in the kargil war and it would have been impossible for the indian army to get them vacate it if the US had not pressured Pakistan to withdraw.
Point 4 = Vajpayee wasted crores of rupees moving troops to the front then got cold feet and did not attack pakistan (that money could have been utilised to carry out covert action inside Pakistan)

Well...Pakistan was truly defeated.. the US talks were only a formality... there was no way Pakistan could have defended.. more than 80% of the posts were re-conquered and they had to withdraw to avid further damages....
The army movement on the border was strategic... it was a strategic investment..which sent a strong message to Pakistan.. if at that time, we had done diplomatic negotiations, Musharraf would have made progress...
