We Indians are to blame for our rot
by R on Apr 29, 2009 11:32 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Let us not blame the politicians. We Indians are to blame for our rot. We donot evaluate the parties, their performance, their agenda before we vote. Instead, we vote based on their caste, religion, region. This reduces their accoutability. So, they do not perform. Finally, we end up loosing.

This is all because of un-educated masses. Just look at the western countries where the politicians are chosen after much debate and are held accountable.

We Indians are mostly illiterate. We make mess of everything. We make our streets dirty. We do not follow traffic rules. We are impatient, restless, fighting over petty things. We lack team spirit. We do not deserve right to vote. We have messed up democracy. Actually, most of us do not deserve to live. I wonder what made Britishers to come to India to rule this crowd.

only national party
by raj on Apr 29, 2009 11:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

only national parties like Cong, BJP, CPM, CPI, should be allowed to contest for loksabha polls. these local parties are destabilizing the nation. they should be restricted to only assembly polls

local parties are in the fray because national parties are not delivering. When national parties are not delivering, it is ok to have a fractured verdict.

absuletlt right. Cong. & Bjp given achance to the local parties because of unequal funds allotments, unequal developments etc.etc. Now because of that today these both the natinal parties are week & they have no alternative but to depend on local parties.

Okay! we take your advice and donot vote for BJP. But you have not given an alternative. Should we vote for a party which promotes the likes of Mukhtar Ansari, the Don? Or, the Kongress which revokes Red Corner Notice against eyetalian criminal O.Q.? Or should we vote for SP which would make us uneducated by removing English and Compterisation? Or, MNS of Raj Thackerey, or DMK or Hurraiyat or RJD of fodder-eaters or .......?

National parties are also looking for license to loot
by Sathish N on Apr 29, 2009 11:30 AM  Permalink

Hopefully BAJAPA will be different. Concept od looting has nothing to do with regional or national party. If the national parties have workable agenda, people will vote for national parties and not regional parties. That is how a national party should try to get rid of a regional party.

The system is wrong
by viswa raveen on Apr 29, 2009 11:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Indian parliamentary voting system need sto change. May be adapt to the US system. Only then the machinations of Karunanidhi, Lallu, Mayavathi, Paswan, Pawar, CPM etc can be thwarted and we will have a strong govt at the Centre which will look at India as Bharath. The criminals having a say in the affairs of the nation will cease. Cong is definitely not interested, Is BJP interested? No idea.............

Viswa, these goons will then form very strong lobbies and the Govt. will still have to work the way they want.

The quality of our politics is a product of the quality of the electorate.

India Disintegrating
by rabinder henry on Apr 29, 2009 11:26 AM  Permalink

Arun Shourie is right .This country moving downwards. There is no collective mandate for the whole country. The rise of regionalism is threat to the country as such .We can feel that its slowly disintegrating into pieces of nations.Common man is only worried about his living. The rich industrialists on the other manipulate and extract the maximum from the customers (common man). There is no end for the rat race. This country will not survive another 50 years ????
