Arun Shourie
by Rohit Pradhan on Apr 29, 2009 12:29 PM  Permalink

I am of the opinion that each citizen must have equal rights. There should be drastic change in the election process. Present systen is not fair. I fully agree with Mr. Shourie. Whatever we do we do it fast for the change or India will disintrigate.

India is a union of many Indias
by Prashant Mardolkar on Apr 29, 2009 12:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We must never forget that the india we seem to take for granted is a recent event, before 1947 india was a bunch of many indias, Independence gave the current shape to india, there are many shimmering tension existes in these many indias.
We require a Central Government who can take along all these India together,Who is all inclusive and not exclusive of any aspiration, be it be religion or region.
Congress is the only party who can do it. Rest all fails on this important criteria.

congress has practically been the only party since independence (fro most of post independence) to have ruled the country, and the state of the country is there for all to c. Therefore, please don't put forth a biased view of the party you support, just because you support it for whatever reasons

During Chandragupta Maurya it was not a bunch of Indias . So it was not during various other times and till at the end of Mughal period, maybe a little earliar. Adi Shankracharya established four Mutts through the length and breadth of his country which was not present day Kerala alone. And so did the followers of Shakya Muni before Adi.You must never let this preposterous disinformation repeatedly parroted by our opinioted historions, take root.

This thinking is the exact reason for difference of opinion among Cong supporters and BJP supporters.

While Congis and Commies think India came into existence in 1947, BJP supporters know that India existed for thousands of years, bound by the culture and religion of hinduism throughout the entire Bharatvarsh.

India was India since ages....even before the Mughals. Read about the Gupta empire as an example.
Or better still, check the Maurya Empire at its largest. It was even bigger than the present India,

A Thought
by shrish purohit on Apr 29, 2009 12:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The elections are becoming local not just because of local parties but also because individual leaders are only concentrating on their constituency. They have to think country as whole.

Now days constituency is created based on populations. So,Divide each constituency in 5-6 parts and people from one part will vote for the another constituency say 200-500 km apart.
(In Next election the second set of people will vote for some another another constituency.)

This way our leaders will have focus on India as whole.

But they do notice the development in another constituency/region.

We have seen certain lingering project getting started just after restructuring of constituency of well known politicians.

How BSP(Mayavathiji) can be a national party when it is confined to mainly in U.P and to a negligible extent in two other states,Similarly JDS cannot be considered as a National party as it is confined to Karnataka only. Only congress,BJP and CPI(M) are national parties. CPI,BSP,JDS,JDU,NCP,RJD,Samjwadi are multistate parties.DMK,TDP,AGP,BJD,Lokdal,RLD,AIADMK,MDMK,PMK,Trinamool Cong,JD(PRP(Chiranjeevi),National conference,JMM,Akalidal etc etc are state parties with faith in Reginalism, castesim, narrowmind approch on national issues and assisiting directly or indirectly violence and terrorism.

Our Duties!!
by Suresh on Apr 29, 2009 12:10 PM  Permalink

We cannot rule out the participation of regional parties easily. In fact we might see their increasing dominance in the days to come, because local people tend to align themselves with local parties. Now, as citizens, we feel that our duty stops, once we elect a representative. We all scream at the top of our voices for our rights, but honestly how many of us do our duties as a citizen. How many of us firstly refrain and protest, when someone violates a traffic rule, breaks a no-smoking rule or does not follow basic rules. These simple basic things, I have seen, many don’t follow. There is apathy towards the general quality of life. I am not saying all of us should be super-humans, just that little, I think the political masters will get a lesson. Secondly, We need to tell the media, that we will not take things sitting, when they make biased reporting. How many of us send mails / letters to media, when an article is not agreeable to us. All these are small things. Imagine, when you see a program on the TV and are frustrated and you write a mail to them. Imagine if even 10,000 of us do it and do it regularly, whenever there is a program like that. The media will take note of it. Though they may have ulterior motives, their survival depends on the TRP ratings. While they may not change overnight, there will certainly b a gradual shift. This is my appeal to you all, to make your efforts towards, contributing to the society in a small way and to change the media.
