Joker
by sam on Apr 09, 2009 02:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A trade off between Laloo & Railway bigwigs has resulted in success. He didnot interfere in running railways in return of favaours which rail board provided in terms of employment of his people and ofcourse the cuts. Even this can be called good management. But for his visits to IIM, it was still a jokery only.

Lalu joker has fooled the public by overcharging in a most deceitfool way Do you know that in all fast trains 25% of tickets are reserved under tatkal for which additional Rs 100-300 is payable and no refund is given for cancellation

It is an alliance of politicians, thugs and the officials. What were going on for ages like under booking of the goods, ticketless travell etc were brought to control since he knew the people who were doing. Look at the looting by Tatkal or the 3rd side berth etc. He needs to be called for lecture in all these as to how he would have reacted if he were not the rly minister.

.. its not lalu's charisma
by My way on Apr 09, 2009 02:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

railways posting stuning profits has nothing to do with the word 'lalu' but yes with the eco. development of the country. When our country was aheading towards double digit GDP growth (to be candid nothing gr8 ness abt it... it was moving alongwith the world, even pak was in 8% GDP growth)five yers bak we were around 4-5% GDP growth. when the courntry's growth doubled it directly beenfited the railways thru freight. if any one doubts, check out the railways fig. for this quarter. you may probably get the ans.

iT IS JUST COMMON SENSE
by varghese john on Apr 09, 2009 02:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

he has applied basic commonsense in all his decisions.like reducing the idle time of trains in the depots.Trains have been paired up so that they run again after a reasonable break in the depots.

At the same time he has increased the number os seats on tatkal to increase the revenue generated.Advertisement space has been given to companies.

Instead of calling him a fool we should be calling our erstwhile rail ministers one,he has only applied common sense and if the ministers till now have not been able to use it till now it is a shame on them.

Lalu is fooling everyone
by HP on Apr 09, 2009 02:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1. Railways is not an Industry but Non-Profit making Organization, and if he said it had made profit, please tell me what has been done in these last 5 years by lalu for development of Railways

2.Lalu claims the price of Railway Tkts has not been increased in fact it has been decreased by 1 Re, do you know how the prices have been increased without any one even complaining abt it

3. Now Tatkal tickets are only issued from source to destination of the Train's route for ex if you want to travel from Delhi to Kanpur in a train going to Kolkata and you are not getting confirmed tkts and have to purchase tatkals tkt upto Kolkata and deboard where ever you feel like, Railway will charge u extra for the Tatkal tkt over and above the fare from delhi to kolkata

4. All passenger and slow train has been made super fast / express and a surcharge of Rs. 25/- has been added quietly, he has always been silent on this subject

5. He has introduced side middle berth on most of the trains leading to grave inconveninece to the passengers , this has been done in AC 3 tier coaches,

6.The no of berth in a coach has been increased to 82 from 63 making the area so cramped up and it is also very unsafe in the event if there is an accident

7.There has been no improvement on the schedule of the trains, even now train run 10-15 hrs behind schedule

8.In order to show profit he has increased freight load on weak rail tracks this increases the risk of accidents in the future

Agreed..these are the points which surprisingly the media has kept quite about.. and neither did the visit to IIM prompt out these nuances....
he has the intelligence.. amazing intelligence...I really wish he would continue to put it to the greater cause for the development of the country.. rather than just filling his coffers..

Re: Lalu is fooling everyone
by palakadan on Apr 09, 2009 02:36 PM  Permalink
you are right. Earlier we were tipping the TTEs to get berth which was cheaper. nowadays, we have to pay RS.150 for tatkal in addition to extra fare from source to destination. The side upper berth is so inconvinient that only a rubberised human can get in. He has announced that the additional side berths would be removed from Apr'09 but still it is being used. Cheap publicity monger.

Re: Lalu is fooling everyone
by Vijayakumar MP on Apr 09, 2009 02:21 PM  Permalink
U r right. Railways being monopoly with vast coverage of the country it is natural it should make profit. If you travel in any daytime superfast express trains you will find people just barge in the reserved coaches and create nuisance. TTEs just look other way. Through Tatkal we are fleeced by the railways.Though rates are cheaper compared to other mode of transport the maintenance of the coaches is very bad.Intrusion of beggars and unauthorised vendors is common sight in almost all the trains. Like airways if private players are allowed to run trains our Indian Railways will go the Indian Airlines way.
