Voting System
by Nibir Ranjan Guha Thakurta on Apr 30, 2004 04:54 PM

What the EVM can do ? They can only computerise/correctly calculate the votes, but unable to predict false voting. Because identity of an individual or duplication cannot be stopped unless the unholy alliance of the polling personnel and the polling agents, are brought to an end forthwith

Reforms in electoral process
by Nibir Ranjan Guha Thakurta on Apr 30, 2004 04:45 PM

I am of the firm opinion that education should be the key factor of a voter. If the voter, is illeterate then it would be dificult for he/she to select the right man, as the problems facing the country should be realsed in the proper persective.

Hannah
poll pundit
by Hannah on Apr 21, 2004 07:47 AM

This is with reference to the question that most of our ministers are illiterate. Such a statement is false and misleading. Surprisingly, most of our MPs are college graduates (I am not sure of the exact figures) and only a very small number is illiterate.

What If BJP wins & Bajpaye looses
by Nafis Ullah Khan on Apr 18, 2004 06:56 PM

Everything is effective when the individual have got moral values and work for justice. In the current Indian society Women is blindly voting for his husband choice candidate. A large majority of voters are not casting there votes in election. The democracy in India is not exercised because the elected MP or MLA is not the representative of the free majoity.

However with the defeat of vajpaye nothing will happen to BJP because BJP knows how to keep everbody in their pockets.

If BJP do not have candidate for PM - what would be their score ?
by Dash on Apr 18, 2004 06:31 PM

BJP is harping about Congress not specifying their candidate for PM and with this state of affairs their vote poll shows fair amount of seats they will get from this election.
Has BJP wondered if they did not have a Candidate for PM where will they stand.
Will advani pull as much seats or for that instance has the voting public thought of Advani sidelining Atalji - or even what would happen if Atalji falls sick. He is anyway a great stateman but in poor health.

Stupid and Irrelevant answers
by Faneendra Kumar on Apr 18, 2004 06:06 PM

The Poll Pundit's answers seems to be vague and irrelevant or either something everybody knows including the one who asked it and there is no point why this STUPID character need to be in place in the first case. I personally feel that it is a waste of time for everyone including the one who asks it, the one who answers and your own rediff.com staff who moderates it. LET US COME UP WITH SOMETHING NOVEL AND INTERESTING. I look forward to a great feature this time around.
Cheers !
Faneendra.

Back passage entries......
by Ramakant M. Gurjar on Apr 18, 2004 05:30 PM

Punditji,

If a candidate looses General election, don't u think people for whatsoever reason have rejected him?
If so, why he/she should be elected for Rajya Sabha or Parishad (for assembly). Don't u think it is betrayal of electorates sentiments.......

I strongly feel a law should prohibit such entries.
Regards
Ramesh Gurjar
