Dhoni has right to decide about retirement. Also selectors have right to select the team.

I am a Dhoni fan in the past, at present and in future. But feel it is time for him to retire gracefully. It is fine if he plays test cricket for another 2-3 years (unfotunately he opted to retire from that format) , but not T20 or One dayers.

Let me quote what Dhoni told in 2012 - " We are giving chances to players who, for sure, will come back to Australia once we play the next world cup (in 2015). There is no surety that some of us who are playing will return. Sachin, Veru or even Gautam, all of us are 30 plus and it is big outfield out here in Australia. It is about giving the youngsters a fair exposure". Completely agree with what he told in 2012, but wonder the same rule applies to him now while he is 37. Had it been the Dhoni a few years back, he never would have got run out as happned in the semi against NZ. Age is catching up, even his reflexes, wicket keeping or running abilities is on the decline day by day. No doubt he is one of the greatest Crickter India even had and wish he should retire gracefully and pave way for youngsters.

Dhoni,s retirement
by Akshay Parmar on Jul 20, 2019 11:54 AM

However big a legend he might be,Dhoni's best years are behind him.
He should have hung up his boots by now on his own.Looks like he bwants to keep on playing.Time has come for selectors to tell him he is not being considered for selection and choose others waiting in the wings. If we want to keep winning abroad,we have the best possible lot of players in the team. The Board should publicly acknowledge the great contribution made by MSD.

Match against England..
by Beharilal Eshpuniyani on Jul 20, 2019 09:04 AM

Regarding semifinal match mentioned in this article, why Hardik Pandya was sent for batting before Dhoni? Was it logical? What about match against England?? Only 5 wickets, but no attempt to try strokes knowing fully well that with singles ,match can not be won at that stage. Just to improve average of an individual??

Retirement v/s selection.
by Beharilal Eshpuniyani on Jul 20, 2019 08:51 AM

Why the confusion? Dhoni is the person who has to take the decision of his Voluntary retirement, if and when he intends to quit. As far as the Selection Committee is concerned, the team needs to be picked up based on the options available. If any player does not retire, is it mandatory to select him in the team??
