Yes, I can’t believe Dhoni can be short of ideas to this extent! Only he knows the reason. But he was not as lucky in the WC as he was to-day in IPL under bowl Ashwin. Now coming to Indian batting, for Rahane it being his first match perhaps he couldn’t accelerate. Going by the scores of previous matches as a captain shouldn’t Dhoni have advised Rahane suitably to accelerate as another 3 hitters excluding Dhoni himself were sitting in the pavilion! These are all not post match after thoughts but supposed to be strategy of a successful captain like Dhoni .That is why I still maintain Dhoni did not go all out for a win in the semis. Dhoni was aware about dew factor for side bowling 2nd and so shouldn’t he have used Ashwin earliest possible in power plays at least after couple of overs by the pacers ? Then he would have left with 6 overs of Nehra and Bumrah which he could have used in one spell ,that is 14-20 or in two spells ---say 2 overs between 11-14 and remaining 4 in death overs.
