It was intentional underplaying by Hussey & Co
by caeser b on Oct 05, 2012 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

They never went for victory , their only target was 112 and not 151.

Had they went for 151 they were at a riskk of getting all out by 80-90 and severely denting their net run rate.

The fact remains is are such things allowed in cricket. Here is where ICC needs to clarify soon.

Remember the olympics where chinese and korean shuttlers got banned for underplaying their matches just for the sake of qualifying to next rounds.

BCCI must appeal............Because it was intentional and deliberate.

Remember all matches are played for winning and not qualifying....else if not then no point in playing the match at all...........

Any one will get demoralised after watching such a match that too from the team that practices the 'Spirit of Cricket' theory ....So much for the theory .........

Hahaha.... Rewind 14 Years back in Sharjah and Sachin's very famous Sand storm innings of 144 against Australia!! India were similarly playing then for qualifying for Finals by edging out New Zealand. They were playing to reach Final in Sharjah and not to Win that match. These things are part of the Game. India shouldnt have depended on Australia in the first place and when they did they lived in other team's mercy. Cracker of a Match today. Hope West Indies gets the better of Australia. Hope its another Chris Gayle Storm today.

He still went for Victory in that match.

In this match there was no intent for victory at all.

I mean Sachin tried to blaze for victory in the sharjah match .

But there was no intent shown by the aussies et all.....

Can u tell me what would u do if u are the batsman and require 60 of 30 ball and still 5 wickets in hand.....

Remember India came from Behind in that match and qualified.....It was the last preliminary qualifying match of that series ....

Whereas in this Aus-Pak match Australia was already in a much comfortable position...way ahead in NRR that both india and Pak.....
Hence there was no need to play intentionally just for the sake of qualifying.......
I hope this solves ur doubts

This kind of incident can happen only in lazy, useless cricket - a game with no clearcut rules and chaotic.

No wonder most of the world do not play or watch cricket(only 10 countries).

Today PK vs SL.....If Pathetic Indian bowlers were bowling...then the score would have been... 180 considering the likes of MJ, Dili, Sanga..and company... and No matter how strong indian batting is it would have been a difficult chance against srilanka spin and the pitch :) cheers !!!

Also Nasir Jamshed was NOT OUT !!!! POOR UMPIRING !!!!

I am an Indian truly Pakistani Arch Rival. But let me be realistic and not hesitated to state that Pakistan looked, infact is the best team seen in the ICC twenty20 world cup, they deserved to be the winner being the only X-factor holders. What a amazing bunch of spinners with world class seamers with such a commanding leader(Hafeez) and a well disciplined team spirit. But unfortunately could not make to the final. Let me tell you that Pakistan is deprived to play in home conditions for a long time, consequently facing the loss still giving the best. Pakistani team is like such a talented student which is a hostler, though desiring to study at home for the best but forced to study away from home, consequently home sickness damaging a lot. My best wishes to them.

Mahender, I feel it is the problem of inconsistent batting that lets them down more often.

KAM, just check the resuls of last 15 matches in any format against SL and see who is ahead...we are ahead by a large margin with the help of our pathetic indian bowlers...check all formats tests, odis T20 and see who has won more times recently both at home and away...
