Virat as captain of T20
by priyankush ghosh on Oct 05, 2012 09:33 AM

Well i saw Virat captaining RCB last IPL for wuite a few games during crunch time when RCB had to win every match to reach the semi finals. What i liked was the fact that he really was very fast in manupulating his bowling attack and setting his field. He unlike dhoni it seems would never be levied penalty for not being able to finish the quota of overs for his team ..he looked in control with his bowling options and didnt allow the game to got drifted away in most of those matches except in one match against MI where rayudu and i guess pollard took away the game..I judge a captain purely by his ability to express confidence in his bowlers and ability to up his performance on the field...his batting also actually got better towards the latter stages of the tournament when he was captain of RCB ..But the best thing i found was his confidence in playing bowlers ..he played all the bowlers in the line up for RCB , who were bowling well in the nets and gave them a go..he backed them and they delivered for him..they batted poorly against Deccan chargers when virat tried holding the innings with a 42 , i recollect but got out when he was caught by daniel christian brilliantly at deep mid wicket boundary while trying to go for a six..and from there RCB panicked and lost the game by miles..captaining india is much difficult task but t20 is perhaps the easiest format so indian selectors can take the brave decision of appointing him as the captain of the side.bring utthapa,m.vijay, rahane

Virat Kohli
by priyankush ghosh on Oct 05, 2012 09:21 AM

Virat ahs always said in his interviews that the thing that works for him is keeping things very simple and not thinking too much ahead of himself and the game.He also always say that he works really hard at nets and rectifies mistakes he does in one match before coming to bat in next match.I am sure Virat will look back at his dismissals in the two matches against AUS and SA , the two best pace bowling attack line ups of the world along with england. The mode of dismissals were pretty similar. Both Cummins and Kallis bowled short to him and he couldnt free himself up by playing the forcing pull shot. He tried to be cheeky the next ball , which were again short . And in both cases he got out due to excellent catches from daniel christian and AB Devilliers...in both the cases he tried to manufacture shots which were not there..i know in T20 batters need not introspect too much about getting out bcoz not in every match do we find people getting runs heavily except perhaps shane watson in this world cup..but still virat naturally would have taken single and gone off strike in both these cases..without trying to manufacture shots..its just a case that he would have been so better to score runs against AUS and SA..we indian cricket lovers who think that he is the next pillar of indian batting..would have been much happier to see him score runs at SA's pace battery and AUS' impressive bowlers...unfortunate but Virat would be the first one to improve..we should have confidence.

Youngsters at T20
by karthik krishnanaik on Oct 05, 2012 07:11 AM

I think Dhoni should retire first, he is the big obstacle in bringing up the youngsters. Apart from world cup (which India won because it was held in India) what has he achieved that he is still continuing as captain. Its time he resigned better retire from all forms of cricket. You really want to groom the youngsters make Kohli the captain.

Youngsters to play T20
by ANOOP KRISHNAN on Oct 05, 2012 06:42 AM

Youngsters to play T20.. this does not mean that youngsters should play only T20 and not ODI or Test. Seniors should show the pave the way for youngsters. Since some senior cricketers love cricket, talented players like Manoj Tiwary should carry shoes and water bottle. He will be given a chance when India requires 390 in 50 overs. When he come down to bat, the required run rate would be 10 or 11 after 35 overs with 7 wkts down. Under tremendous pressure, he is expected to play a crucial role and win the match. If he does not play, he will dropped for life time. Same match, if seniors fail, nothing happens. Players like Rohit Sharma even after getting several chances inspite of continuous failures, will still remain in the playing XI. Players like Badrinath at 32, has to carry shoes and bottles. He played his first ODI and Test when he was 30. After that he was not at all given chance to even fail. This is how BCCI works...Hats off to BCCI.

Too much of cricket, especially T20. Excess of anything is boring.

STOP IPL and see the improvement
by sanjay kulkarni on Oct 05, 2012 12:18 AM

I wonder, when IPL starts, every player of Indian cricket team comes automatically in full form. Then what happened when tournaments like World Cup comes near?
some one gives reason for his health, some one has bad patch and some one has some other reasons....
Indian players are playing only for money and nothing else....
before 2007, there was no IPL and Indian team had won the world cup.... after IPL came, what happened is known to whole country....
IPL like tournaments are main culprit and I dont think there is need to change the team....
Ban IPL....
