It seems that, everyone has a price, not matter who they are!! Sad to see Paaji losing his dignity by crawling back to the BCCI, just for benefit and pension money.

why should he be only person to suffer when his colleagues such as sunil gavaskar, sachin tendulkar who r earning crores did not even support him.everyone wants to earn money why shd kapil be an exception.atleast he did fight the BCCI for 5 years alone.

why will they support him? did he pay them money? he was the one who wanted a rival team against BCCI. he suffered.
One very important point people/BCCI itself probably missed/does not want to recognize is that the initiative which was ICL is what actually forced BCCI to come up with IPL which has become a huge success now. Whatever said, those unsung people definitely deserve applause for the IDEA that was which includes Kapil too was a part of

Tropical boy, you have made very valid point. This is the most critical aspect, that has been grossly missed by everyone

Tropical climate and kanku: so Kapil is the culprit because of which our batsmen have become flat track bullies.

earlier day i was going through chat where in it was commented that he is great not asking money but i knew all are sailing on the same boat (Fixtures of matches)
Good to see that BCCI and Kapil has amicably resolved their differences.
Congratulation to the present BCCI President Mr. N Srinivasan for ending this deadlock.
Kapil truly deserves to get this booty BCCI, like his other team mates of 1983 WC Team.
As a fan of cricket, we really felt very hurt, when we saw likes of Sambaran Banerjee ( to name a few cricketers ), getting the one-time benefit payment from BCCI, during the IPL -- who all had very little contribution to Indian Cricket, compared to Kapil. And latter being not even invited for any of the Play-Ofs and Final.
It was only Sunil Gavaskar, who wrote in his column ( few days after IPL-V ), that it is high time BCCI resolve the issues with Kapil and disburses him the amount he deserves as a captain of the 1983 WC Winning Team, as it pains many fans like Kapil, for being avoided by BCCI.
Its beyond doubt that kapildev was selfish & burden on ..........indian cricket team for last 4 years of his career.
For last 4 years of his career he was there in team without any major contribution or performance. Only aim was to break world record of Mr Hadlee for most wickets

You are making statements for the heck of it an without checking the stats. It was possibly the last few matches and even there it was because Azhar would delay taking 2nd new ball to 125th over or so as his spin trio of Kumble, Raju and Chauhan were very effective. Kapil was never a burden and will never be. If he was not bowling, he was batting.

Get another Kapil Dev for India before you make such senseless comments. You don't seem, to follow Cricket. Follow something else which suits your Interest but please don't make irresponsible comments on one of the best Crickets to be born in India

Check the stats and then comment. It was a general media created feeling those days. His stats in batting and bowling in Tests were better than the rest of the career! He was unused in many matches (in which there was hardly any role for pace bowlers)! But otherwise he was very fit till the end!
BCCI, the Guardian of the game in India - What a joke. BCCI is just interested in making money and has done very little in developing the game or players to the level it exists in countries like Australia, England and South Africa. BCCI interests rest with killing the competition of any sort that promotes quality cricket and not in chalking out a long term plan to take and retain India at the top of the game.
Good BCCI. You did a great help to India Cricket. Paaji is one of the best cricketer & allrounder the world has ever seen. No one can ever match the 400 wicket and 5000 runs runs in test cricket. The best thing was the level of consistency he achieved and made Fast bowling popular in India. Lets salute the great son of India.

What do you mean by nobody can match Paaji's records? Are you saying that no other Indian will match them? Looking at our current crop of Indian players, you are correct. But worldwide, NO. Kallis at the moment is the best alrounder ever to have played cricket, Sobers comes next and possibly Paaji and Akram are 3rd and 4th respectively.

Money is important for everyone. When his team mates of 1983 WC Winning Team can take their one-time-benefit amount, why should he be deprived. He deserves that money just like Gavaskar, Shastri and others.
Don't you work in your office for money or you do a charity ?

kallis was successful b'coz he is supported by good fast bowlers of South africa.just look at the fast bowlers of SA with whom kallis shared his bowling donald, klusener, pollock, ntini etc.and u r talking of Kapil dev who used to hunt with spinners in tandem.and kapil was never a liability.if he was not taking wickets,he was scoring runs.
