This should be one of the best run chases in the history of cricket , Sri Lanka with a big score the whole of Sri Lanka would have been celebrating till the Indians shattered their dreams. This would make many Australians think do we want to play this team which has just shown what it is capable of doing , which is impose an overwhelming victory. Not many teams nowadays can respond in such a fashion , Pak lost 4-0 in the one days for the so called home series Dubai pitches are more friendlier to Pak then their own, the 20 -20 match was so bad tha Pak could have won it with names like Afridi, Misbah all they had to do was connect bat to ball and the match would have won , They were trying hard to do justice to their sponsors BOOM BOOM by wanting to play Boom Boom Style but it was JOOM JOOM is what they achieved. From Afridi to Captain even in the previous 20 -20 match there was this left hander he is also a spinner the amount of JOOM the entire team did , it definitely called for a Qawali song in the back ground Joom barabar. India Thou DHOOM Machata hai.

once in a while this happens.. now don't go on boasting about this team's capabilities.. we have seen it for months and we know what would happen in front of genuine pace and short balls..even if lanka loses against aus but keep a ve run rate they would make it to the finals..

Nope. The criteria to be considered before the net runrate is applied would be the head to head record between SL and India in the league matches. India is ahead with a 2-1 record here with 1 match tied. So SL has to win or tie the match to qualify.

Srilanka still has the bigger chance of qualifying from the way they have been playing in the past 10 days. It took a very very special innings from Virat to defeat them. So nothing could be said derogatory about their performance. 320 is a fantastic score and the highest in this series, till the indians took over the record. So let us wait and watch.
Great stuff in the end. Batting redeemed though not against the best of attacks and again not on a true pacy wicket. Still the entire team was upto the challenge and its heartening to see them win for a change!
In the final match, if Aus score 340 Runs, Srilanka has to play badly and have to be allout for just 65 runs, if India are to reach finals if Aus score 380 runs, Srilanka has to be bowled out for 105 runs.if India are to reach finals. I think they are not foolish enough, India are out of here..

Rest assured Australia will loose to SL deleberately not to allow India the benefit of final by default.India's World Cup win has not gone well with the Ausies. They are not leaving any chance to belittle India and legendry Tendulkar. No doubt Indian team is itself to be blamed. But hoping that some one else will come to rescue of India will is foohardy belief. Same thing has happende in Hockey. India always helped Pakistan in distress (In cricket also Dalmiya helped the Paki team tide over accusations of throwings) but when it was Pak time to repay they virtually did a Mayawati on BJP in UP during BSPs first 6 months rule. Once a foe is always a foe is the underline of Pakistans and Australia's policy.Remember my word Austraia will loose even a walk away match against Sri Lanka

wrong calculation. sri lanka just have to loose the match. the final two will be decided on the basis of their performance in league matches not by the run rate. India is ahead of sri lanka by 2-1 if sri lanka looses next match.
Re: Impossible

The net run rate is only the 3rd criteria for the teams to qualify. No.1, is the points. If tied what is the head to head results. Then comes the net run rate. So if SL loses, the points would be tied and they will go to the next critetris which is head to head. In this India leads 2-1 with 1 match tied. So net runrate will not be required for qualification. Please read the qualification guidelines in Cricinfo. But if the match is tied or won by SL, they go through to the final automatically. Even if there no result because of rain, SL will go through as the 4 points will be shared. India's chances are only with SL losing the final match with Australia.

NO friend By the virtue of India beating Srilanka twice if Australia beats Srilanka, India would be in the finals and net run rate would not apply....

Praveen you are wrong. As per CB series rules, if two teams in same point, who will have most wins witnin them is going to final. India have beat srilanka twice. So, If Auatralia beat srilanka by 1 runs itself india go to final.
India will be in finals as srilanks is going to loose match against Australlia(if Australlia will play Gentleman Game)surely india will win the finals toooooooooooo...

Of course Aus will try to win Sri Lanka as India is an easier opponent than Sri Lanka in the finals
D. Goel pkl afternoon ,5.45pm Tuesday, February 28, 2012. It was a happy tiding thatIndia after defeatingSrilankain this crucial match got tiedat 15 pts ,now much woulddepend ifAustralians could smash SriLanka in their last encounter , andindianssail to meet them later to get into Final . But ifSrilankan's win then Who shall meetthsa E Australians ? Will it be judged on the run rate of India /Sri Lanka. D. Goel

if sri lanka win against aus obviously they will go thru because of more points. if lanka lose we win go thru because of better head to head.
in no case the net rr will come in issue. net rr is the NEXT tie break which will not be needed in this scenario
