DRS at current form (maybe the best possible form) is a scrap. Whenever we vouch for technology, we expect to trust the system fully or not at all. Half baked confusing decisions like 2.5 m rule, on-field umpire review etc, ruin the spirit of the game.
The poor understanding of technology is mainly responsible for these otherwise cricketing wizards refusing to let DRS succeed. It seems that lack of education is hampering their vision for what is now a fairly straight forward case of technology helping the game.
If Sachin Tendulkar's lbw against Ajmal had not been over-ruled thanks to DRS, Mahender Singh Dhoni might not have been holding the WC. It changed the fate of the Indian captain who became hero after being zero in previous matches

it was good for pak that sachin tendulkar was not given out. otherwise the total would have been more to chase. because dhoni and raina would have come to the crease earlier and made even more score....

Most useless comment. Sachin got out when the score was 187 in the 35th over. They had enoug overs to score runs. What stopped Dhoni and Raina to score 100 or more runs in the last 15 overs. Why did Dhoni get out lbw to Riaz trying to flick the ball. The fact is that the pitch was not easy to score runs and Riaz Pak spinners were bowling well. This not only shows your ignorance but also blind hate for Sachin. Perhaps you are jealous because millions all over the world support him

t xz, sunil vaidya is a person who alwez criticizes sachin n appreciates dhoni. everybody knws wht dhoni did in wc b4 finals. so dnt pay attention to wht vaidya writes bcz he thinks that he understnds cricket more than BRADMAN N RICHARDS. let him be happy in his dream world. dhoni's record outside subcontinent shows hw gud batsman dhoni is on fast pitches.

BCCI is behaving like a dictator, three years back , it was suffering from credibility issues, suddenly everything is forgotten it gets and misuses tax expemtions, it needs to be abolished

Why to complain about BCCI, few decades ago England and Australia is controling and making rule to suit them at that no body complained, Now India ha upper hand because we r the best and we generate the money , every one has problem, wel done BCCI, every one has right to put its point of view , why should we follow which these english men are telling
I think Emburey doesn't remember what happened in India vs England World Cup match, where DRS was used. Ian Bell was given not out by DRS when he was out, and the rule had to be changed during the WC itself. Had the rule been in place that time, Bell would have been out and India could have won the match.
I would say, ICC should settle with all the rules and regulations regarding DRS first rather than tinkering with it whenever required.

The system was in place & decision was correct. It was unfortunately the inability of our illiterate captain to read the fine points of LBW when ball is 2.5 meters in front which allows field umpire to stick to the decision.

you are a typical indain circekt fan or fanatic, dont you think that its absurd to be against a system which has improved umpiring a lot??? just becuase they have not had any success against DRS you just cannot abolish that. Why cant u learn that rather than be against it always. its totally atrocius
BCCI should be boycotted!!!!!!All boards should come together and make UDRS mandatory. If BCCI does not want it. Sorry too bad. I am saying that as an Indian

Unless UDRS is fool proof, it cannot be made mandatory. ICC rule itself says it is up to the participating countries in bilateral series to decide. Moreover people are connecting Dhoni and Tendulkar to this. If you can have your views about cricket, why not these two players have their views. Is it a crime to have the above views. Moreover Tendulkar has said ,if this system is fool proof we can accept. Nowhere he said if UDRS is there , i will not participate. Tendulkar and Dhoni are not the deciding authority in BCCI , they are mere players. If the board agrees to it they will play in such situation.BCCI has its own views on this.

No system is fool proof.URDS is an attempt to minimise errors.Hot spot is also not fool proof BCCI is a cowardly organisation and should stop acting as a bully and start behaving like a leader

Who is fool proof? The umpires who give half of the decisions incorrect?
Re: Re: BCCI should be boycotted!!!!!!
by abhikul123 abhikul123 on Jun 10, 2011 04:08 PM
Exactly! The point is the ICC should not leave it up to the touring team cricket board to decide! It should make the system compulsory! The ICC has become a scape goat of the powerful but corrupt BCCI! Is is definitely a much better system than the on-field umpires for heavens sake! Dhoni is a very good captain but has poor technolgy skills. His job is not to speak on teachnology. That is ICC's headache. He and ST should only play - not influence the ICCs decision making!
ST and MSD say the system isn't fool proof! How ridiculous! Are they saying the umpires are fool proof?? And the ICC? WHat the hell are they doing? They have 100s of 1000s of technicians sitting there working day and night - can't they give a fitting replies to these so called experts?
I am a ST fan btw. But I give my thumbs up to this wonderful system! Other boards, if they agree should come together and boycott BCCI where it doesn't comply.

Most of the decisions in west indies matches was incorrect. Buggers cannot produce one good umpire, I think as cricketers are making money for them, they want to keep the system as it is and milk it

It might not be fool proof but neither is the umpire's judgement. But surely UDRS has proved to be more accurate than the umpire's judgement. The problem is the BCCI and its heavy headedness.

sachin was saved against pakistan in world cup due to this drs and india won due to that innings of sachin.

Let us keep his leadership skills separate from playing.Sachin has serious limitation when it comes to decision making & were on display in IPL & 2 yrs as most unsuccessful captain.

100% od the effort in semis and final was because of UDRS, BCCI is ISI of cricket, it needs to be eliminated
Tomorrow Tendulkar or Dhoni may not want to accept a LBW or caught behind decision going against them. Will the BCCI put its might to support them ? This is crazy.
Its just an hypothesis of where the ball would go and people can change that ... Its not like third umpire where he can say either reached or not reached. So its better we dont adapt.
