once again proved who is better batsman between sehwag and sachin and who is responsible for india wins in the last decade...
sehwag once again proved he can bat longer and bigger innings than sachin...200 in less innings than sachin...also many double hundreds and triple hundreds in tests! poor sachin!!

Sehwag has scored ODI century while winning only twice that too against New Zealand on non sub continental pitches . No Australia No England or No South Africa. and in total 14 centuries. And BIG ZERO test century while winning on non sub continental pitches He is very good batsman but mainly flat pitch bully.

If you had read my post or grasped it you should understand that i was speaking of all formats...in tests he has done it numerous times -hitting double hundreds and triple hundreds in tests...now he has bettered sachin in odis also...:)
according to people like sehwag cannot last long or build big innings...which is completely untrue of course...he has so many double and triple hundred in tests in FEWER innings than sachin which proves that it is sachin who cannot last as long as sehwag can or make big scores as sehwag can...in fact at one time sehwag's 13-14 test hundreds in succession were scores of 150 plus...funny how so many ignorant fans think that he has no ability to last long on the wicket...:) but of course a handicapped person like you has various medical issues psychological issues etc. so i am not surprised by your post...:)

vaidya: noone ever said, atleast the informed, that sehwag cannt last long. What's true abut him though is he cannot play such long innings consistently..as achin or dravid. He is like those stocks which yield high returns but at the same time are risky. And in your portfolio you need both type of stocks...
if all these still doesn't ring a bell..how do you explain sehwag's avg lesser, despite him scoring big innings?
I am a big fan of shewag as far entertainment is concerned, but as true cricketing fan..nothing gives me more thrill than watching square cuts, straight drives, cober drives...rather than base ball swings ..pollards..afridis etc.. But thats me...

There is no competition between bat and ball on Indian pitches....Batsmen always murder the bowlers...That's why no body wants to be a bowler in India and we dont have quality bowlers..

by ankur srivastava on Dec 09, 2011 10:36 PM
Out of the top ten highest individual scores in ODI's 5 were scored on Indian soils, and other 3 in dhaka, rawalpindi and sharjah.. this clearly states that its because of such unsporting pitches people score such high scores...

oh then there shouldn't be only 5 from top 10 it should have been 10 out of 10....go and get refresher better for you and you really need it
Plz do not compare Sehwag or any other batsmen to Sir Viv. It's showing disrespect to the legendary batsman who instilled fear in the minds of bowlers of every
opposition during his hey days. Richards was destructive against quality attacks on bowler friendly wickets.
Sehwag plays once in a blue moon. Also when it comes to quality pace bowling on good wickets Sehwag almost always fails. I doubt if ppl in this same forum would be singing praises of Sehwag after the tour of Australia.....
Cricket has seen only one destructive and fearsome batsman till date and its Vivian Richards. There will no other Vivian Richards in the history of the game.

Viv Richards was great and there is no 2 opinion about it But he did not face best bowling attack in his time. i.e his own team bowling Also to make big score u need to have appetite, hunger and great level of concentration which Sehwag has .....and also Lara had

agree, in destruction nobody can compare Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, and if we talk about in blue moon then sehvag, yusuf pathan, afridi, are the same

hey man dont put shewag with afridi or yusuf..Look at his track record..he scored all his major hundred's against big teams with best bowling attacks in their home grounds

sehwag on quality? he is a opener mind u. got most chances to score 100's unlike Yusuf Pathan. mind u.

boy, the kind of bowlers that Sir Viv faced cannot be even imagined in modern era cricket. Do u consider Lillee, Thomson, Akram, Younis, Imran and many others to be just ordinary???
So what if he did not face his own bowlers. If he had to, he would have destroyed them too... Viv had a gr8 technique and ability to play quality pace bowling... I do not think sehwag has that ability or technique. Let the tour of australia get over and then we will see what big appetite sehwag has.... Remember u got to score when the team needs it the most. The only batsman in India with a sound technique is Rahul Dravid and no one else. I bet he will be the only bastman to stand Australia's pace attack on those fast bouncy tracks.

IF A PLLAYER DONT HAVE TECHNIQUES AND HE WINS MATCHES FOR OUR COUNTRY, HE SCORES 2 TRIPPLE CENTURIES IN TEST AND 1 DOBLE IN 1DAY, THEN I DONT WANT TECHNIQUE.
VIRU HAS HIS OWN TECHNIQUE,IF A BATSMAN WITHOUT TECHNIQUE CAN SCORE RUNS THAN AFRIDI COULD BE D BETTER BATSMAN.

I think, there were no of occasions, when viv also got out on zero, 10, 20. Also, WI also lost no of matched during his tenure. Still, he is regarded as once of the best batsman of his era. So is Viru.

The best bowling attack at those time where the windies, so in reality Viv practised at nets with them and took on the below average bowling attack of the opposition. Viru is the best and whats happened in the past has been surpased and the writing on the wall is highest one day score is against Viru's name.

u cannot compare father and grand father and 1970 -80:s viv is no doubt a great batsman but sehwag equally too and records r made in once in blue moon not every day
I always enjoy the batting of Shewag. But the 219 made was one of the best so far from him and hope he will make mince meat of the Aussies bowling. Wishing him all the best .
Re: fantastic batting
by Against Pseudos on Dec 10, 2011 08:40 AM
Since Aussie bowlers are learners compared to the mighty Rampaul, Sehwag will make mincemeat of them just like he tore apart English bowling in England recently..eh??
Otherwise when hit for four - the fast bowlers would respond with bouncers at head. The fear of fast bowling and the ball hitting the bare head ( which can mean hospital ) is not present these days.
Re: Re: Viv played Lillee and Thommo without helmets...
by NashikMarathi on Dec 09, 2011 11:32 PM
There are videos on youtube of Lillee intimidating Viv with just a cap and 4 bouncers in a row and cleaning him up with a yorker. Search on YouTube for "Dennis Lillee vs Viv Richards".... for a match in Perth 1976. Clip is 3.27 in length
I dunno about later but Viv wore no helmet in the 1970's versus Lillee and Thommo.

Indeed India won the first world cup only when Richard got out to Mohinder's ball. Till then, he was literally savage to indian bowlers. Next hard hitter was Clive Lloyd. No one can forget his hit in the first ever test match played at Bangalore Chinnaswamy stadium. Indian fielders were wondering as to where to position the fielders for him. Such was his power. Then we had an hard hitter Sir Roy Fredrick again in West Indies, who along with Greenidge were terror Openers for West Indies. Lloyds team was unforgetable and Lloyd carried the heaviest bat; i think around 4.5lbs. Viv Richards shots - 1st pitch on the ground and the next on the fence - that was his wrist and forearm power. Real savage hitter. After Viv yes Sehwag and Sanat Jayasurya of Lanka are the only hard hitters and nightmares to the bowlers and fielders. Congrats Sehwag. Keep going and delight us all in Australia also with your power.
