love and war
by saurav mansinghka on Aug 17, 2010 10:15 AM

While Randiv is being criticized, I dont think its fair coz we should not forget all is fair in love and war and watever he has done is well within the rules of the game.....we should focus on india's victory rather than feel dejected over sehwag's century

Cheers

They have the best Chuckers in their bowling squad. But for Indias support neither Murali nor Malinga would have been considered as 'bowlers'.The ICC bent the rules to accommodate them.

again, irrelevant gibberish.

ICC rules are bent all the time for batsmen. Not a big deal to accommodate a great bowler with a specific condition.

You seem to have lost the point made. FYI, Sachin is part of the team, does not own it.

Counting score on No Ball
by sudhakar pradhan on Aug 17, 2010 10:14 AM  | Hide replies

Rules should be changed . If a Batsman scored run by hitting a no ball the run should be go to his credit. Why the Batsman be deprived of his score ? If he hit a Noball it is not the fault of a Batsman.

I agree. Especially when the ball is part of the game and is recorded.

Pradhan:

Runs ARE counted when batsman hits a no ball. But runs aren't counted after the match is over.

The match was over the moment the no ball was bowled.

This is similar to controversy in carrom board when the last coin went into the hole followed by striker. Should that be counted as win or minus for the player? In the carroms it is recorded as minus. I know these two are different games, but the anology is obvious. The batsman should be awarded the runs.

Ajay:

You are right. The issues are not comparable.

Coz in carrom, the game is not over till the striker rests clear of the hole. The coin is not deemed taken till the striker came to rest.

No such restraint in cricket. The moment no ball is bowled the match is over.

Sehwag's 100.......
by arvind samnotra on Aug 17, 2010 10:12 AM

Teams and players do adopt such techtics either to win or at least contain the opponents. But in such case, when Srilanka could not stop India's win in any way; resorting to such means only conveys frustration and poor spirit of Srilankans. But Sehwag's cool has shown the class he has matured into.

PROTEST BUT DONT GET DISTURBED - INSTEAD GO ON TO WIN
by rambo only on Aug 17, 2010 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

Sri Lankans have shown very bad spirit and we are all angered by this.

But no need to fall in their trap by becoming highly emotional and disturbed.

We should protest and concentrate on winning the series. That would be best reply to the Sri Lankans

Not a big deal.
by Kedar More on Aug 17, 2010 10:11 AM

Hi guys, yes what happened was not a good thing but come on its not all that grave.

it was within the rules, the rules should have been more proactive.

drawing a recent parallel from Football, if the hand of god can happen against a deserving ghana in the very last minute by soares, and resulting in ghana going out.

this is not such a big deal.

so lets go back to life and concentrate on more important issues.

First 2 balls he wasted. if he wanted century then he could have scored 1 run in those 2 balls instead of crying for century later

That is bypassing the REAL issue. How can a spinner bowl a no ball with both feet outside crease? HAS TO BE DELIBERATE..... Lankans are one of the best behaved teams and have a impeccable record. But this is not sportsmanship at all.

they are certainly not one of the best behaved teams, and neither do they have an impeccable record....they have done this to sachin and saurav when they were on 99 and 98 resp.,before.
