IPL - is it required?..
by Sajeev Warrier on Mar 10, 2009 02:47 PM  | Hide replies

I am an ardent cricket fan who keeps a tab on all happenings of cricket across the globe. But with regard to IPL, my question is "Is an event of this type that necessary to be conducted with a security level being talked about and the expenses associated with it. During this tough times is it necessary?..Who is going to enjoy the game when its under the cloud of terrorist threats and also the general atmosphere being recessionary. Who will provide the required security to the spectators. There is not much talk about it. This IPL will be less of entertainment and more of unwanted expenses and threat.

It is required otherwise where will poor Sourav play? Also, because of IPL and its monetary advanatges all the players of the World will lose against India otherwise donkeys like Sachin, Raina and Dhoni are not even capable of holding their bats properly! I want IPL it is spreading the joys of corruption all over the world.

let us not provoke external elements to show their might by uttering statements like india is not pakistan etc.let us concentrate only on us , our work, our ethics, our secutity concerns etc etc & prove to the world what we are capable especially in the matter of security. The fact that there is an element of fear in the subcontinent for all the foreign players especially after attack of srilankan cricketers should not be overlooked.even pieterson who led his country after mumbai attack is getting nervous & other players. Many players have started feeling that cricket alone is not important in life than family. let us all respect.so if GOVT .bcci/ipl authorities can prove to the world that india is different let them prove & not talk. but one think they should not come out excuses later on.let not political considerations or sports consideration come in to play but security considerations only should decide abt hosting ipl. What is the necessity for EC to hold elections in so many phases as they have to move the forces which require lot of time. whether Elections were held in so many phases in the fast. let us all have rational thinking. nothing is more important in life than life & it is the duty of the authorities to protect it.

IPL will flop
by MailSunnyHere on Mar 10, 2009 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

With terror threats, recession, high cost of tickets, far away stadiums, poor performance in previous season is all gonna make IPL a biggest flop of this year.

Be proud of IPL if you love india
by kuldip nair on Mar 10, 2009 02:26 PM

Its something to cricket, what NBA is to basketball, NFL is to american soccer, Grand slams is to tennis & F1 is to motor sports. All the sports I compared is just about money & professionalism. So nothing wrong if cricket is the same.
Why i crave for IPL? Cos only in that you can see Punjabis dancing with joy when Harbhajan is bowled. Ajantha mendis getting sehwag out & public is rejoicing. Its bring cricket together as one. It also proves a point that India is not afraid of terror & we will fight it out.

Do not worry about that when 100% seats will be reserved for goons in medical colleges , you will not hear this kind of news again. So better convince arjun singh that 100% reservation is required.
