Thanks a lot... So Many people do critisize about Indian Team.. but they all are gonna leave from office and run home to watch this match .. i bet
What purpose does this series serve?? India playing against a pathetic WI team and winning 4-0 and Dhoni winning 10 more ad contracts??
I personally think that such series need to be avoided....they hardly serve any purpose....it would have been better to have played 2 tests and 3 ODIS....atleast we could have seen how Raina, Rohit and Gambhir play against short stuff dished out by Edwards, Powell and Taylor.......

I'am just saying that the charm has gone out of 50 overs ODI cos of T20......
I see the death of 50 overs ODI in a couple of years....cos there is nothing unique about the 50 overs format......
As far as Fidel,Taylor and Powell are concerned, people like Rain and Rohit can make them look like joel Garner or Holding......it is people like Sachin, VVS and Dravid who make them look ordinary.......

ODI will never die like test matches still have charm. I prefer to see 100s of players like Yuvraj, Gambhir, Dhoni, Sachin in ODI rather than 70-80 runs of players like M.Pandey, Asnodkar etc in T-20.

50 overs ODI cricket should see a few changes :
A) Allow 2 bouncers per over B) Take out the free hit rule after no-ball is bowled C) Take out the concept of the batting power play of 5 overs...3 power plays and all 3 belong to fielding side.....with restriction o taking the first power play of 10 overs at the start and freedom to pick and choose the other 2 slots of 5 overs each...
D) Get rid of the new non-striker taking a start when the bowler is in delivery stride.....reinstate the old "mankaded" rule....
I think with these changes, the charm of 50 overs format can be restored.......

Why not B and D?????????
Cmon maan, i always thought that you are one of the few sensible bloggers out here....
B rule is a shame fit for gully cricket....if the bowler has made a mistake by overstepping, he is being penalized first by giving an extra run plus the batsman does not get out on that ball......why punish him twice?????
All that you need to do is bring about an electronic beep system that will automatically give a loud 'beep" the moment the bowler oversteps.......the batsman can then go for a wild swing.........the umpire does not even have to report a no ball, the electronic surveillance system picks it up.......
As far as d is concerned, it is such a shame and a disgrace that i don't even want to talk about it......

Basically, make it a bowler friendly format.....it is time that the 250 to 275 scores are restored, rather than mindless slogging on flatbeds and short boundaries making 350/375 scores possible....

Bhasmasur, I am with you on making the ODI format a little bowler friendly.

It can happen if we use red bowl rather than white bowl in ODI.
this series will mark the beginning of team indias downfall.. everyone will fail miserably.. Result: Dhoni will be asked to step down as captain.. Lakshmipathi balaji will be recalled and named as captain of india by srikkant

common... if we were dumb.. we would not have posted this.. What I showed was the probability that can happen in future if performance of an indivdual is not a criteria considered by chairman of selection committee.. For what hell reason murali vijay and badrinath selected in the one day team?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: no hopes
by Venugopalan on Jun 25, 2009 12:45 PM
IF performance of an individual is the sole criteria for selection then majority of players of the current indian team will not be qualified. None have performed well. forget vijay and badri.
Test technically sound crickers like Murali Vijay and Badrinath by giving them all 4 ODI to play.
Suresh Raina whom we trusted failed to deliver at right time which resulted utter flop in T20 Super8 Matches.
We need to develop a player of Rahul Dravid type of cricker for next 5 to 7 years atleast to cope up with all pitches in International Cricket and for which we need such a cricker who is Technically good.

how come then we won in new zealand? how come we won in australia last year? don't talk regionalistic crap.

IN NEW ZEALAND NON OF THE PITCH ASSISTED FAST BOWLING . PLUS THEY HAD A VERY WEAK BOWLING ATTACK WITHOUT BOND, TUFFY. AND IN AUSTRALIA IT WAS BEZ OF SACHIN INNINGS. some times stats dont prove or give the exact picture

Badrinath is good...not so sure about Murali Vijay though!! I would still back Wasim Jaffer to make a strong comeback to test cricket...he is really good!!
It is going to be a white wash 4-0.So guys start preparing efigys of DONI et all. When India has performed in WI.The only seris was Sunil Gavaskar performing stunningly. We still can't play short raising balls in any form of cricket.
Re: White wash
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 25, 2009 12:10 PM
We won ODI series in WI under Ganguly's captaincy. We won test series with domination in WI under Dravid's captaincy. It's not 80s and 90s, it's 21st century. India is doing very well in abroad.
Re: Re: White wash
by Maihoon Don on Jun 25, 2009 12:14 PM
coz the wickets are flat....and WI team has become so much weaker...ask this Indian team to play in pitches of the 70s and early 80s against the WI pace quartet of Andy Roberts, Joel garner, Micheal Holding and Slyvester Clarke and they will fall part like peanuts....
Re: Re: Re: White wash
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 25, 2009 12:21 PM
Pitches are same but bowlers are weaker. Don't forget this indian team has faced worlds best bowlers Murali, Warne, Macgrath etc in this era.

Would Sachin, dravid, Laxman have been there, the situation would have been definitely in India's favour. Now it looks like anybody's game. An even contest as they don't have Lara.

What era r u talking of? Except for Yuvraj in this side ,nobody has played against Warne & Mcgrath and he came cropper against them & v all know that he is a bunny to murali ,then how can you say that this indian team has faced them. This team doesn't have Sachin,Viru,VVS & Dravid in the team.
Why no one including BCCI not bothered about Sachin's absence for the West Indies Tour. The Game which gave Sachin the identity, fame and money and the nation which placed him very high in standing do feel ditched by this Cricketer who time and again ignores nation's interest by keeping away from tours to Countries which are not worth for sight seing such as West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He was present in the crowd to watch T20 World Cup in England through out but he is given the right to choose the Country he likes to tour when the BCCI selects the team! Lately I have developped disguist for this little master whom once I worshipped as God of Cricket!

you are just a stupid guy with no knowledge....sachin is right in avoiding these meaningless series...he is doing great in full fledged test and oneday series like that against Aus, Eng last year and this year against New Zealand...such meaningless tours like 4 ODIs against West Indies can be played by youngsters to get some practice...Sachin is in fact promoting young cricketers by opting out of such random tours...

West Indies not worth for sight seeing?? It seems you are the one who hasnt been out of India. Check out atleast the photos to confirm that the WI is one of the most exotic destinations around. And please stop your stupid comments regarding Sachin!
This series was probably kept as a buffer(it was announced only late last year) in case India fails at the world cup and fans start burning effigies....West Indies are no big shakes in intn'l cricket right now and so ICC and BCCI will make sure India win this series 4-0 and cricket interest is sustained in the land richest in cricket and fans stop burning the effigies...what a smart move BCCI as usual...they are better than Indian politicians.

who says W.I. are not big shakes, i suppose u hae not watched the T20 matches and in the days to come by W.I would dominate international cricket, so count my words and see for urself how india is drubbed and rubbed in W.I

Yeah WI are big shakes as seen in their humiliation in England in test and oneday series this summer....u call t-20 a cricket battle? its gambling where anyone can win on their day...west indies has not done anything in last several years to indicated theu are going to even be a decent team leave alone dominate intn'l cricket.
