kambli is onemore player for whom success went to his head and got himself spoilt. he has many such people in India like L. Sivarmakrishnan, sadanath vishwanath ,etc for whom early success went into the head. Sachin is a classic example how how to keep your success without it getting into your head.
Re: talent and discpline must co exist

You are right. Both Sunny and Sachin are excellent examples of a healthy mixture of talent and discipline.
The whole issue is baseless and is a stunt to mop up TRP ratings for the new show. It's nothing more than a media stunt and I hope we, the Indian public is sensible and mature enough to read through the whole gimmick. Let's give the issue what it deserves - a kick to the trash.
Cricket lovers of yore would recall there used to be a very stylish West Indian left handed batsman called Lawrence Rowe. For reasons I do not recall, his cricketing career was very short lived. However, during the short time he played he was a treat to watch and it was a tragedy when he stopped playing.
Similarly Vinod Kambli was a dashing, dynamic batsman to watch. Who can ever forget his back-to-back double centuries?
But there is something called fate which plays a decisive role in all our lives. Somehow fortune never smiled upon Kambli just as it did on let us say a VVS Laxman who got any number of chances to get into the Indian team, and he did well like in those crucial matches against Australia.
I really do not know who should be blamed for India loosing out on the services of Vinod Kambli who I firmly believe would have smashed any records and established a few on his own, if only, I repeat, if only he was lucky like a few others. If you look at the craze for Fair and Lovely Cream, and other fairness creams for men and women, perhaps, Vinod Kambli's skin colour has got something to do with his misfortune faced as he was with the apartheid inherent in Indian society.

But Kambli was given lot of chance. I bet more than any player in the Indian team. But luck always favours the great like his schoolmate Sachin Tendulkar. Poor fellow.

Lawrence Rowe was an outstanding batsman. If he could continue playing, he could have surpassed Sunil Gavaskar as the best opener of the world. However, he could not continue as a result of eye-problems.

Lawrence Rowe was not an opener. And he was barred from cricket for travelling to South Africa which was banned at that time. This was unethical move by him as he himself was black and he did not bother against money that South Africa was banned for racial descrimination worldover in all games. Such guy cant be superior than Sunny Gavaskar. Prashant Patil

Rowe had opened in many tests. He went to South Africa, but that was in 1982, and he did not play in any test after 1980 because of eye-problems.

Lawrence Row had opened in many tets, including the tests during India's West Indies visit in 1976. He suffered from eye-problems and did not play in any test after 1980. It was after that - in 1982 - that he went to South Africa, when he realised that he could no longer play in test matches.

Sad to come across a casteist one among us...these are the people who want to see India divided on basis of caste and religion...
Never knew that one's understanding depends on one's caste...may be Ram Bharat knows it better as his understanding may have been linked to his caste...but thankfully there has been no such correleration proved...take off your casteist spectacle Ram Bharat, you will see a much more uniform India...

Born in a rich and nice family. This dude must be feeling elated and lucky about his and his grandfather's greatness. Had he been born in a wronged caste? Would he have said the same?

Don't depending on Caste. Better get your act clean . Become a better person. Help the society in general. Why take sides on an issue which is already a bad omen for a society. Our path should be dependent on our Karm or deeds and so you should be demoted to a lower strata on bad deeds basis. Or you should be pulled up on the basis of good deeds and hard work. All this feeling lucky and great after just being born in a good family is the worst thing of our system. Deeds should put you up and down. Nothing Else. I hope you will learn from this.

Mr. Ram Bharat must be belonging to a very high caste(suwarna) but working as a sweeper or cook or gardener or guard under a shudra...who frequently asks him to do all this......ha ha ha
if kambli is sayin tht he has been ignored bcoz of his cast and color then really its not acceptable. I never saw such kind ofthings happening in indian team. we hv seen players frm different cast and religion. this blame is baseless .Also if kambli could nt came back into team then its not sachin fault. when sachin ws captain in 97 and then in 99 , he supported kambli n kambli came back into the team but could not perform and got out. so if he could nt perform then he cnt blame sachin. he got chances bt could nt proved himself.

Hello Ghatan,
Please do not promote Sachin. Be sane and try to understand the truth. Sachin is most selfish player and he does not deserve to be in team on his merit. He is in the team only due to Pawar uncle.

Bhaiyye if sachin is inferior, it doesn't make Kambli superior.Hell with your cricket knolwledge ...chek sachin's past 2 years record with other indian batsman...you will find what merit is all about....
