Sachin, is a great Cricketer as valued by all Hall-of-fame cricketers and the close compititors like Lara, Ricky, Steve. But most off all, he has been apreciated by most intimidating bowlers of all time. As per them he is allways the toughest prize for the bowler. He takes out the best out of the most successful bowler. His adjustment to the pitch and crease is unparallel. above all he is a great and sober human being. But what we exepect him to be a great ambassador for the country's sports not just cricket. He should also support other brilliant sportsmen like Wrestlers, Boxers, Shooters, atletes, Field hockey palyers, and soccer players. He should help the struggling players grow, not just confined to Mumbai and Maharasthra cricketers.
Every players has good and bad times, but certainly Sachin has given some amazing moments in cricket for which India is still proud of him, which we might still not forget. As far as Dhoni is concern, definetely in today's game, he is on top, but we should wait and see his performance, at the same age, at which sachin is being under lot of critics.

Can you name any five best Sachin's innings in Test and ODI in which he single handedly won the Match for India? or even draw a Test Match. i am sure you wont be able to do it.

there was time(atleast 5 years in 90's) when India was concidered as a One man Team in ODI... Sachin out match is over.....the only other batsman capable of wining match during that time was Azahar....So matches was between Sachin vs Aus...
Few things which wil make u happy 1) Sachin hasnt got a Hundred at Lords. 2) He was a pathetic Leader. 3) He took 20 test Matches more to overtake Lara. 4)He has a distinct quality of failing in crucial Matches (96WC(SEMI) , 2003WC(FINAL) , 2007WC ) 5)He has 4 double hundreds: i) It took nearly 10 years to complete his first double. ii) Three of his double are against weak nations (Nz , Bangladesh , Zim )
Moral of the Story Sachin is just a normal cricketer and not god. So the so called wellwishers keep ur mouth shut now.
Re: To all Sachin's critics
by RONNIE KHER on Jan 30, 2009 02:09 AM
Sachin failed in 96 WC SF - scored 50 odd out of a team score of 122 for 8... is that failure? 2003 WC F - what were the bowlers doing, giving away 359 runs? Sachin could do nothing but slog, and he lost his wicket - he did not hang around doing nothing. 2007 WC was a bad outing for the entire team, why single out Sachin?
dude, by your logic Kambli who score 2 double hundreds in his 1st 2 series is a better player. go back to the mid 90's, pick up any Team India sheet - and name 3 batsmen who could be relied on to deliver. and if you are unbiased, SRT will be there in each and everyone of your lists.
And dude, comparing SRT with Lara, you are anyway giving SRT his due - Lara was no ordinary batsman, he was truly one of the best the game has ever seen.. But maybe by your logic he is not since he failed in 99 WC against Australia, right?
Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics
by Vishal Khanvilkar on Jan 30, 2009 11:19 AM
1) agreed we were chasing 360 in 2003 WC. But did he make an attempt to stay on the wicket. U need not slog from the first ball itself. 2)2007 wasnt a bad outing for Saurav Ganguly. had some senior player stayed with him on the wicket we could have scored something like 220 against Bangladesh. 3) And if spin was causing trouble then the other player should have been Dravid or Sachin only. 4)And if youy know that the team needs you till the End then you should be careful in your shot selection which he did not do in the 96WC.
I am not telling that Sachin is not a good batsmen but certainly he is not a God.
Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics

Not to defend Sachin but I would like to answer few things. 1. Chasing 360 I Sachin was not attacking then may be we see a post saying he is Selfish playing playing for Runs not looking at target.I don't want to mention that he played the important role to reach final. 2. 2007 Even I'm disappointed in Srilanka match 3.96 WC As far as I remember he got out st by Kaluvitarana on the leg side . So its not a case of bad shot selection Considering Sachin as God is limited only to his Fans not to everyone. But I deffer with any comment which says he is not a great player. Beleive me In 90s it was just Sachin. When Sachin used to get out 90% TV sets used to be turned off. I feel sad when few people talk losely about such a high quality entertainer. But every one has openion and rigt to express. So need to live with it.

I agree with you.. Most of the time he was a One man Army in 90's.... We concider hsi failure in World cup final , but did not mention becuase of him we reach to the Final.. 96 and 2003 we reach Semis and Final (sachin scored ) and when he did not score we did not even reach to Semis...

Please get ur one-man army concept clear. In India after sachin atleast we had some hopes from Azhar or Jadeja. But for WI it was Lara all the way from 1998 to 2006 approx as even chanderpaul was not that consistent as Lara was in that time.
Re: Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics

Buddy ..your cooment is not correct because Lara Hardly took one man army role and the major critisism from WI great Gary Sobars was that he plays irresponsibly and not according to match situation which clearly pushed Tendulkar ahead of him. Otherwise both are brilliently gifted and exceptionally good players.

A GOD to say Sachin should do some miracles but fail to 1) Lead the Team when he was given a chance 2) He has no such innings as like Dravid and Laxman that won the test match for INDIA.

How sad that we have people like you to comment on gems like sachin. Sachin played lesser number of innings than lara and also has a higher average...so that shows ur ignorance. He has so many centuries against australia, england and srilanka. How conveniently u have forgotten them...What do u think makes Lords special. He has so many centuries in tough pitches like Chennai, Kolkata, Sydney, Durban etc.. So u shud be ashamed of ur comments
Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics
by Vishal Khanvilkar on Jan 30, 2009 11:04 AM
You talk about centuries? Lara has 2Triple against England, 3Double Against Aus. And one more thing he holds the record for completing fastest 10,000 runs in Test Cricket. So there is no need to be ashamed of myself
Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics
by joydip bhattacharya on Jan 30, 2009 01:58 PM
again its not only scoring of runs.....its how u score and when you score and what is its effect to the game overall...Sachin has to throw his wicket may times after scoring 150 as to declaration or accelarating run rate in a test match...Lara scored runs as most of the time he was playing to save WI from defeat.......Please don't compare with those numbers with Sachin...Sachin is different from others.. even Dravid has almost same numebers as Sachin if not better...But see the difference of their status ....so its not always numbers its more of ur presence or effect in teh game
Re: Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics

Sachin never had this problem. His biggest drawback was his inability to play big innings in Test Cricket.

that is because the team genrally eas weak and he was the only batsman in his team for long time, but for sachin ,he had dravid laxman n ganguly to save n win matches n they gave good company to sachin, dont demean lara he is the best always
Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics

I dont want to compare Lara and Sachin, because I am a die hard fan of both. But scoring more double centuries does not make a player greater than the others. Marvan Attapattu would have been a greater batsman than Gavaskar, Sachin, Richards, then. Lara has a lot of doubles, still he does nt have a better avg. than Sachin. Both Lara and Sachin are in same league, but he is not as consistent as Sachin.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: To all Sachin's critics
by Deepak Kalia on Jan 30, 2009 08:14 PM
It was according to you, stats define the greatest player. I never tried to say Sachin is better than Lara, My point is both are the legends of the game. Lara is bit ahead of Sachin in test since he was the only guy from WI challenging the opponents. Sachin could score much after 2002 because of the arrival of the Sehwag and Dravid at the top order. I agree, Lara has played better innings than Sachin in Test, but in over all Sachin was more consistent than Lara. Sachin is anyways far ahead from Lara in ODIs and undoubtedly the best ever. Sachin is always more composed and disciplined in the game than Lara. To me they are the only ones, can be considered for the top spot. Sachin has edge over Lara because of overall contribution to Cricket and for inspiring so many young kids all over the world.
dudes, get a life!! Ask Indians who were old enough to watch and appreciate Cricket in 90's - Sachin was the reason we started watching the game, Sachin made us sit through a match, a series, a season of Cricket...bottomline, there might be Dhoni's, Sehwag's, Ponting's...but there is one and only one Sachin.
The T20 victory was without Sachin, yes - but for so many of us, Cricket meant Sachin and will always mean Sachin. The day he stops playing will be a sad day for world cricket.

I think Dhoni has done lots of justice to Indian Cricket - Probably lots of people who got disappointed in Azhar era due to match fixing- Dhoni has got them in the game back.
From nowhere to Peak - DHONI has proved himself a true crickets in the world.
He got India maiden world cup of T20. Several Wins in home & away series of Cricket - whether it is One Day/ Test Or T20.
LEADER OF CRICKET is M S DHONI His true spirit for the game & captaining such a difficult side (India - where Dravid & Ganguly as well failed) SALUTE TO TRUE SPORTSMAN
Re: Re: Sachin the best

Ganguly failed!!! where? when? how?
boss, he was the person who took over Indian cricket post the match-fixing saga and instilled in us a devil-may-care attitude.
and dhoni is an outstanding captain, yes - but Sachin is an outstanding cricketer, a legend of the fame. He might not have been a great captain, but to so many of us, throughout the 90's he was Indian Cricket.

We won the First T20 World cup and for that credit goes to Sachin first because He opted out from that event to give youngster a chance to prove and the all young indian team proved that sachin is right. Dhoni is good captain but to win a match or series or big cup you need a team work and whole team needs to contribute. One man army can not do anything as It happened in the past with india that only sachin was playing from the team
Re: Re: Sachin the best

Don't forget Dhoni has almost got a readymade Team.... ODI Sachin/Schewag/Yuvraj Zaheer/Ishant/Harbhajan Test Schewag/Sachin/Dravid/Laxman/Ganguly Zaheer/Inshant/Harbhajan
What else Captain can expect in the team when all of those player is in their top form........
It was really difficult For Ganguly....becuase he has developed a Team after being Captain..Lets Dhoni do that....
Re: Re: Re: Sachin the best
by Deepak Kalia on Jan 30, 2009 08:25 PM
Both Ganguly and Dhoni are among the best Indian captains. Ganguly revived the Indian team to the top league and injected passion in the team to win. Dhoni is injecting professionalism into the team and make a habit to win.
Let's reach some consensus here. I think he is one of the best and still scores run (Max in tests against australia in australia 2008, second max in ODI) Second max in tests vs australia in india, 2008. And these are including both teams. He is not as flamboyant has he used to be, but if you know cricket he does so many things right with his technique that it is worth watching regardless of how much he scores. Let him have his last few years in peace. He is still good.
Once in several generations come a Lata Mangeshkar, A Leonardo de Vinci, and a Sachin Tendulkar.
Anybody and everybody who were on a cricket ground will proudly tell their Grand Children that I played with Sachin Tendulkar. Anybody who watched him play will never forget his game. Even the worst of his enemies on the Ground love his game.
Sachin, You have spread much joy and provided a billion people national pride that it is impossible to surpass.

Tendulkar has caused much sadness to Indian cricket and may lead to its final demise as well. We need players with the mentality of Kallis, Gibbs, Ponting, Hayden, Clarke etc. and not of the mentality of superstars. Till that happens, Indian will never be number one team.
