Spare a moment to think of former Ranji and Indian players who live in utter missery. Many of them don't have money for a basic standard of living (esp before the pension scheme).
This is an UTTER waste of money and the BCCI and the CAB should be ashamed of it!
The 25 lakhs should have been spent in developing and improving the game. Ganguly otherwise is not a neglected cricketer in penury. He has sufficient wealth. Alternately the money could have been given to the languishing sportsmen like Limbu Ram (archer) and others.

why this happen always? when tendulkar was awarded everyone praises and supports but when ganguly was awarded why everybody has problem?afterall he is one of the best batsman in world he should deserve this.tendulkar has been awarded many times was he donated some sum of money in development of upcoming youngsters,only announcement were done.although tendulkar is my favourate but in my opinion this award is not wastage as this award was given to him much earlier.HE DESERVES IT!

when u present your son/father/mother/close ones any gifts do you always think that the money could ve been spent on better purposes..?? Dont be a hypocrite..Sourav is like that to the CAB.. no outsider will understand that...
Fanatics like Vijayan need to understand that this is NOT about Ganguly. NO cricketer should get something like this. A felicitation is fine but this is absurd!
Also, the game is bigger than ANY individual, soomething that Ganguly fans don't understand. Statements like the game died after his retirement just emphasises your total lack of cricket understanding. Much much greater players than Ganguly have retired but the game and has gone on!
