Ajit Agarkar with 291 wickets in ODIs is out of the team
by Forrest Gump on Feb 02, 2009 03:59 PM  | Hide replies

This itself shows parochial and captaincy politics within the team...just pushing players of their own choice...as long as team is winning this looks fine but when team starts losing they will get the brickbats...

Ding Dong. Helloooo. Wake up. Agarkar had already his huge share of opportunities. Probably you should also look at the amount of runs he has conceded. 8021 runs. Too much.

Srikanth is clearly parochial
by Special Correspondent on Feb 02, 2009 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

First, he chooses Murali Vijay ahead of more deserving batsmen and now, he picks Balaji ahead of more deserving bowlers.

In any case, his rambling on CNN IBN was irritating enough, he is now doing this to the country. We can do without people like him in the system.

Cut the crap and chill down. Vijay had a terrific season and was high on confidence when he was selected and he did justice also by playing well in both the innings in that high pressure series winning game. Don't forget his terrific fielding too.

Remember, neither Vijai nor Badrinath is currently in the squad though they had been part of the earlier squads but did not get any opportunities. If Srikanth wanted to include TN players he could very well have opted for these both in place of Rohith, Yusuf, Praveen or Irfan.

Badrinath has not yet played one single test match despite scoring tons and tons of runs in domestic cricket for the past 6 years. Where were you guys hiding when he was not selected in the earlier squads.

Did you watch the Ranji quarter and semi final matches last month when Balaji single handedly fought the match and produced some magical spells? He has taken close to 40 wickets this season in flat tracks. What else would you expect from a player to get back to the squad.

He was so unlucky to have missed out the last few years to almost a career finishing injury. Almost everyone have welcomed his comeback as unbelievable and lion hearted effort. Just shed this prejudice mindset and learn to see things as it is.

Again for guys like you always trying to find faults there is not one single player from TN in the squad. So talk some sense.

Some people are arguing about Balaji's and even Murali Vijay's performances being deserving enough of selection.

The point is not whether they are good cricketers or not. They are pretty good but only the very best need to be selected. Even if there is one guy who is better, he should be in.

And there are some who harp about Badrinath (a Tamilian) not getting his due. Well, he got 3 games and averaged 19. In such a competitive scenario, this would not support his cause.

Let's face it, Srikanth is parochial.

What abt the choice of Badrinath? Soon S.Suresh the leg spinner from TN will also come into the team as will his own son Anirudh Srikanth....just misuse of powers

Srikanth and Srinivasan running a cheap show in BCCI
by Forrest Gump on Feb 02, 2009 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

It is clearly evident that these two morons are continuously trying to push players from their state into the national team.

Just compare it with the tenure of Vengsarkar when even performing Mumbai players were not selected and instead players like Ishant were pushed into the team who are doing well now.

I agree - Balaji deserves this chance. Let me try out other paceman.

RP Singh & Sreesanth - out of form
MS Gony - IPL Season apart, he hasnt had a good season in the domestic as well
Dhaval Kulkarni & Siddarth Trivedi - have had a wonderful season, but so has Balaji. Maybe instead of a newcomer (having tried out many of them, they had picked Balaji who has pushed hard for a comeback.)
I think the selection is more logical than parochial
