India won the series in pakistan bcoz of balaji and irfan pathan. After that he was injured and was recovering. I really doubt he will make it to playing 11.
Murli Vijay was instrumental in winning last test match. He affected 2 crucial run outs and scored 32 and 40 in 2 innings. For those who see regionalism in this, they shud consider why wassim jaffer and agarkar played for a long time for Indian side.

Wasim Jaffer better than Murli Vijay. You must be joking. Wasim has got so many chances. Wasim can perform only where ball dont bounce above knee roll and do not swing more than 2 cms. Gambhir's 2 years were wasted bcoz of this guy.

ya ya murli vijay scored double hundred in that test & he was man of the match, i don't know how many more tamil nadu players will come in indian team, if it was in srikanth's hand he will even bring dinesh karthik for dhoni
Some people are arguing about Balaji's and even Murali Vijay's performances being deserving enough of selection. T
The point is not whether they are good cricketers or not. They are pretty good but only the very best need to be selected. Even if there is one guy who is better, he should be in.
And there are some who harp about Badrinath (a Tamilian) not getting his due. Well, he got 3 games and averaged 19. In such a competitive scenario, this would not support his cause.

By the way what is Irfan Pathan doing in team for all these years. Is he a batsman or bowler or allrounder. On whose blessings is he with Team India.

My dear friend, I am not in support of any region here. If any player, Tamilian or otherwise, made it on any basis other than merit, I fully condemn it.

The problem is when people easily dismiss a person selected based on merit as a person being selected out of inappropriate reasons. In Balaji's case, he had enough merit to win his place.

Balaji is a pretty good bowler but he should not be no.1 in this pecking order.

Badri played a match winning knock in the SL ODI. I admit that he didnt play well in the other two games. But the same can be said about Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma & Yusuf Pathan as well. Players need chances guys. You shouldnt throw a person out after two or three poor outings.

Now you can see loads of taminadu players as the selection chairman is from tamilnadu, bcci seceratary is from tamilnadu, if it was performance of ranj troplhy what happened to dhawal kulkarani, ashok dinda etc

Rekha, we need to check Rohit Sharma's domestic record prior to his selection. If it wasn't good enough, I say that he should never have been selected.

and of agarkar, wasim jaffer and romesh powar. Only reason why anybody cud think ramesh powar to be part of indian team is his last name is same as ceo of bcci.

Sreesanth has got an attitude problem. Irfan has lost his pace and nobody knows why he keeps getting chances again and again.
To think that Balaji's selection is parochial is ridiculous. He had a neck surgery and was out of cricket for 3 years. He has come back and done admirably well in domestic cricket. He certainly deserves a chance.

No doubt murli vijay is a good player but look at the team, we have very good openers in test, 20-20 and in one dayers ( sehwag-gambir-sachin) isn't. so where to fit murali? its not a question of TN, mumabi or Delhi.... if that is the case, karthik should have been dropped long back.... And in case of ramesh powar, tell me any offie in india during that time don't count harabhajan, in fact he bowler better than harbhajan, check the economy rate.

In Australian Team the players like Hyden and Hussey was played after 30 with great bat avg and strike rate.Lot of players above 30 shine well in international. We should give priority to the players who perform, not for youngster.

how long you want to rest him? till he will take up umpiring or commentrator? it was high time he got his due!!
Re: Regarding balaji
by Rathnavel Ponnusamy on Feb 02, 2009 04:23 PM
Is Cricket only for new players? When a player like Balaji pushed so hard with his performances in Ranji and Duleep, I think it is fair that he is given a second chance.

I think Ajit Agarkar and many other players like kaif etc should just learn tamil and shift base to tamil nadu to be selected again...also dhaval kulkarni shld change his name to dhavalan kulkaraswamy
