Singles - Silent Killer....Secret of Success
by srikanth gomadam on Oct 22, 2008 02:09 AM  | Hide replies

In my opinion, one of the finest aspects of the Mohali test win, besides strong performance from most menmbers of the team and captaincy, was the team's ability to rotate the strike. Unlike, the usual flamboyance and blitzkrieg style India was unproductively employing for so long, the team showed common sense and stuck to the basics. It can be seen that India scored about 300 runs in singles (25% of the total runs) in this high run-rate match, which was crucial for the success. Even though Ponting was largely defensive throughout the match and groung is somewhat big, natural hitters such as Sehwag and Dhoni showed controlled agression and applied their mind to the given situation. (Dhoni's second innings has only 3 fours and a six)

Kudos to the team... I've waiting to see this type of mental maturity in this team and hope that this continues...

Smart pick. Its is tempoo that is working. All the batsman are rotating strike regularly and not blocking one end up. If the team play this way, it will keep doing well.

Dhoni & Ganguly
by Lotiya Pathan on Oct 21, 2008 07:34 PM  | Hide replies

Under dhoni's captainship India won both the tests.
1. Vs Saouth Africa at Kanpur, where Ganguly made 87 runs in 1st ings and 13 not out in 2nd ings in a tough pitch, and was adjusted man of the match
2. Vs Australia at Mohali, where Ganguly contributed superb ton at 1st ings, which eventually helped India to win the match.

Still most of fans and Dhoni dont understand the value of Ganguly as a batsman in the team ..shame

Lotiya, Dhoni said dada s knock was the most special monet in this test - so please dont try and drive a wedge - remember, they are both from the same cricket and captaincy gharana - aggressive, no-nonsense captains, unlike their meek predecessors and successors

i would disagree to the extext with you to the extent that dhoni didn't understand the value of ganguly as a batsman...
look at dhoni's interview in cricinfo.com... he's commended about ganguly's performance... on a side note, he showed his kingness by offering the stump to ganguly....
