Piyush Chawla

Why suddenly Piyush Chawla lost favours from selectors? With Kumble counting his days we needed a young legspinner.

Mishra, with a hat-trick in IPL, might have become another Mendis, but for the sick politics ruining our team.

Yes he got opportunities on One day matches but he tend to bowl either too short or too full. A leg spinners needs to bowl from wicket to wicket in One day matches. and also he gives width to batsman to cut. His googlies now-a-days are too predictable. Chawla along with Irfan Pathan were belted by Pakistanis & Sri Lankans. Chawla bowled well only against Hong Kong players. He is only 19 years old. So there is lot of time left for him to gauge his mistakes and come back strong.

good decision
by vinay on Jul 08, 2008 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

good that
dhoni is not in the test team. not fit for test format.
jaffer is out. and in form gambhir deserved a place.
amit mishra wud hv been a better choice in test format than ojha. really good googly bowler better than chawla in test team.
good that yuv has been warned by dropping him and also resting dhoni;viru has been promoted as vc.
good to see parthiv and karthik in the team.

may b raina or badrinath was better than rohit.

I agree to some of your points:
1. Amit Mishra should be given chance after Kumble and Harbhajan

2. Raina should have been in place of Rohit Sharma

how about Madan Lal making a Comeback ?
by Raghavan on Jul 08, 2008 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

It would not be a bad idea to Select Madan Lal who bowls with a Fast action but can be a slow Deceptive bowler.

Budda brigade is back
by Calspadeaspade on Jul 08, 2008 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

Oldies are back. S.Lanka any way will thrash any team in Lankan soil. Dhoni did the right thing or may be he was instructed to sit back. Either way is good for him. Must rest players who are over worked.

Indian team for Sri Lanka
by kamal baluja on Jul 08, 2008 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

The team is fine except maybe Ashish Nehra in place of RP Singh. Nehra bowled with zip in IPL and deserves a comeback.
Another change could have been Raina instead of Rohit Sharma. If the criterion for dropping Yuvraj is the form then Rohit Sharma is no great form either while Raina's recent performances deserve him a chance.
Good to see Irfan Pathan shown the door. He is a joke of a bowler who slips in an occassional fast one while the slow ball is his stock ball. He doesn'y give away runs he bleeds runs.

raina is paying price for horrible shot he played in final. rohit atleast got LBW.

No NO. Satish,
You have no idea about Agarkar. He is the only saviour like Jesus. He can single handedly make 300 runs and take about 8 wickets. The remaining 2 players he will make them run out with perfect throws from the out field. In other words he is Rajni Kanth in real life cricket.
