British PM suggests knighthood for Tendulkar
by Ritwik Bhuyan on Jan 28, 2008 11:31 PM

Cricketing greats from the Commonwealth nations such as Sachin Tendulkar should be considered for traditional British honours like the knighthood, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said.

Noting that cricket is one of the great things that binds the Commonwealth together, he said there was a time when top cricketers from the countries in the grouping would be recognised by the British people through its honoured system.

"But I believe it was a good tradition to celebrate the achievements of the great Commonwealth cricketers - it shows we are good sports and I would like to see some of the great players of the modern era - like Sachin Tendulkar - proposed for honorary awards - so the British nation can salute their achievements in one of our national sports," Brown said.

Ha, ha ... say what you want, but the world calls him as PADMA BHUSAN SACHIN TENDULKAR, and will soon call SIR SACHIN TENDULKAR, no matter how much you bark.

Vengsarkar is a very self centred person, he was always against Dravid as he did not want that bombay donkeys agarkar and elephant powar. Vengi wanted them in the team so the problem started there and he finally managed with his homestate president ouster of Dravid the Wall. Anyways the team is in the safe hands of Kumble, once he also goes out that only God can save the team.

British PM suggests knighthood for Tendulkar

The british doled out "khetabs " like Raibahadur to the natives during the British Raj. I do not think they had any genuine respect for those awardees. I do not think that "knighthood" is more prestigious than the love the billion Indians give to Sachin. Do you know that Rabindranath denounced the "knighthood" given to him by the British in protest against the Jalionabag killing ?

As regards , other players not getting knighthood, I do not think that it adds or substract anything from their capabilities.

Every one will say to give him Knighthood, but first let him get. Anyways he is a great player and would make india proud if at all he receives it. I dont know about Ganguly but Dravid deserves it along with Kumble

Test Series is over, Let us see, how they perform in one days.
by Rajeevan V on Jan 28, 2008 11:18 PM

All marks to the young Indian bowlers who gave a great punch to Indian fighting in Australian soil. The mix of young and old heroes given us a decent Score line in the Test Series. The best discovery is of Ishant Sharma as an emerging bowler with consistence pace and swing.
The maturity shown by him was tremendous.
We cannot forget the comeback of Pathan. Kumble lead bravely except in the first test. In the batting front Sachin,Laxman,Dravid(though not in best of form his team spirit is commentable),Sehwag played greatly. Ganguly shown some signs of his batting abilities. But techniquewise exposed his limitations.
But Yuvraj and Harbhajan disappointed. Dhoni too shown his problem in batting in Australian pitches. But his keeping was commendable.

In one day team, let us see who will play dravid'd role in creating partnerships. All the best for the One days!!!!

Sachin bashing morons!
by Nand on Jan 28, 2008 11:10 PM  | Hide replies

Its sad to see such moronic and brainless idiots on this discussion board criticsing Sachin Tendulkar , Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravids in here ! either its because of the lack of a normal level of intelligence or bad upbringing, or BOTH! THESE THREE ARE OUR NATIONAL TREASURES AND I OPENLY SALUTE THEM for the glory they have brought to our country so many times in the past decade! Healthy criticsm is gud, but charecter assasination of such great players is MORONIC!

undoubtedly, its a TEAM GAME! I am only referring to these morons who somehow manage to type some crap for attention! as far as the team spirit goes, yes. No match is won without the full teams contribution! everyone needs to contribute and when we win, everyone deserves the credit!
