No civilized man, I underline the word 'civilized', will criticise Tendulkar for him dedicating the century at Adelaid to Bradman. If you do not fall int he category of 'civilized' criticise Tendulkar till you get satisifed yourself.

It amazes me how wonderfully ungrateful we are as a nation. Or maybe most of the wonderful writers posting here are so young that they dont remember the exploits of the 3 buddhas(atleast the maturity implies that !!!)

it is the greatness of those 3 jokers... they refused to play the t20 world cup to give the chance to youngsters..

Keep on watching T20 only, dont waste your time watching and commenting on test matches. It needs joker players and Joker audiences like me ;-)
With so much of cynisism, its obvious we are not a nation good in sports. If a player of Sachin's calibre can be critisized the way he is, one can imagine critisism most youngsters face who are hoping to be in any sport. I hope someday, we will be more encouraging and appreciative of talent & hard work and produce more sportsmen who will make us proud like Sachine, Dravid, Saurav makes us from time to time.

i call upon all d members here....RECOMMEND THIS GUYS NAME TO THE SELECTORS.....i urge u again...RECOMMEND THIS GUYS NAME....i m sure he will break all tendulkar's record in a matter of 2-3 years...or may b 2-3 months..
the commercial pressures now are incredible, same with selection, internal politics, incredibly inflated egos all around. sir don was truly special. and in the current generation we have tendulkar. lets enjoy the game rather than call names or degrade those gentlemen!
its a shame for us INDIANS to say such derogative things about our legend sachin tendulkar.. i am just so apalled at d way he is attacked everytime..whether its a zero or a century or a double century for that matter that he scores.. i no more feel pity but shame for al those critics who have no sense of appreciation.. and the media as well. if in a match INDIA loses and even if sachin scores the highest of all batsmen..they will go against him and say he failed to deliver.. first, why dont u attack other batsmen as well.. FOT THE SIMPLE REASON THAT IT ATTRACTS PUBLICITY ans second, why dont u say it otherwise.. ITS NOT THAT SACHIN DOESNT PLAY WELL WHEN INDIA LOSES>. its d other way round WHEN SACHIN DOESNT PLAY WELL..INDIA LOSES.. THE WHOLE TEAM IS DEPENDENT ON HIM.. and thats the blataNT TRUTH.. TAKE IT OR NOT.. WE LOVE U SACHIN!!!!!!!! cheers to you!!!!!!

Well Said Drishya. On one side there is aussie media and commentators who will support their team even when they are wrong and other side its our people. Maharastra will critize bengal Delhi will critisize South. And South will critize north. Just trying to find a hundred reasons to divide ourself but not a single one to unite. Kya hoga Mataji Jane,,,,by the way u got a very good name....

i agree...every1 complains that wen he scores india loses...it happnd in 4 out of last 5 ODIs...coincidently,india got 300 plus in all 5 of them....i believ they wanna say he shud have got another 50 odd to help india past 400...or took 4-5 wickets while bowling....simultaneously....
Statistically and in many other ways, Donald Bradman was and is the greatest batsman to have played cricket. Bradman is not only the greatest cricketer to have ever lived, but probably also the greatest sportsman of any ball sport. He was incredibly dominant - the fact he is Australian is just a fluke - he could have been Indian, English, Bangladeshi or West Indian. Cricketers who saw and played with Bradman and also saw some of the modern greats like Vivian Richards, Gary Sobers or Sunny Gavaskar say that Bradman was head and shoulders above them as a batsman. Bradman wasn't a stylist and was very much unlike Tendulkar in technique; Bradman just murdered bowling attacks.
It is fitting Tendulkar pay tribute to Bradman at Bradman's home ground. The greatest modern day batsman paying homage to the greatest player full stop in the history of the game. Clearly Tendu knows more about cricket than many of the posters on this thread.

Very correct. Indians wear their hearts on their sleeve! Indian cricket fans are more intense. They are human after all with very pronounced emotions. Which is why these many variegated reactions to Sachin's achievement. What people forget is that at his age, Sachin still retains the class and commitment. Even ODIs are going to be no different. He will come out with some great performances. As usual he will be roundly criticized as well as feted. One has to remember that Sir Don not only mentioned that Sachin reminds him of his younger days but he also met Sachin. Sir Don was a recluse and therefore, his words and his gesture of meeting Sachin was very, very special. Which is why Sachin's dedication of this recent century at Sir Don's homeground to Sir Don. Good show Sachin. And good writeup Chris.

I want to add one more thing: Sachin when he lost his wicket to Brad Hogg in India came back to the pavilion and mentioned to his mates, "This will never happen again." He is yet to lose his wicket to Hogg after that. Now it takes immense confidence in one's ability to be able to go on record saying things like this!

"Greatest Sportsman" Bradman ?? Perhaps yes...no other player in any other sport has been so superior that there is a remarkably wide gap between the the first and the second best like we see in case of the Don !!
RE:Bradman the Best
by raj on Jan 25, 2008 10:19 AM
absolutely. don was a legend. i doubt anyone else like him will ever be born. he was a genius and tendulkar knows that while dedicating that ton to sir don.

Sir Don really was great batsman with the average of 99 in test cricket. But he hailed from era, when cricket was not played with the kind of intensity as it is played now, and i think he had lmited quality oponents at that time and like Shane wane, he also has the best performance against one poor side in the world - England ....

chris dude.. its understandable that u have great appreciation for australia and the legends that she has produced..no doubt about that..SIR don bradman is the finest player ever..agreed.. but what i done agree with is the fact that your comments seem to be biased and not sense driven.. why dont all of us let go off our cticisms and appreciate the fact that both countries are respectable cricketing nations.. and the last thing we are here for is arguments!!!
