At the outset, I know like to congratulate Anil Kumble for this tremendous feat. One can only hope that atleast now the country sits up and takes notice of this great man.
Since his debut he has fashioned so many victories for India in both forms of the game.The fact that he has captured most number of wickets against Austrailia is a testment to his talent and prowess.
However, the India selectors very often give him the cold shoulder and even the media has the habit of ignoring him.The problem is cricket is fast becoming a batsmen game and the only way a bowler can make a mark is if he's a speed machine like Brett Lee or controversy's child like Shoaib Akthar. Kumble, being the gentleman that he is, is often ignore because of his mild manners. Cricket is India seems to revolve around Sachin,Saurav and Dravid and now the youngsters Dhoni and Youvraj.Even test captaincy was offered to Kumble only after the senior batsmen refused it.
Let's hope that India realises the true value of this great man and stops this step-motherly treatment that has been meted out to him. Kudos to Kumble and may he break many more records.

Hello Suma: Please don't bring regional stuff in this matter. Every Indian is proud of the great Anil Kumble not only for his bowling, but for his integrity too. Don't involve his name into this regionalism. Be proud as an Indian first. Veerappan was also Veera Kannadiga as you know, even though people may think he is from TN. It is not healthy for any of us to talk about these regional stuff, either complimenting or criticizing.

Wake up and look around in these forums, it is all regional. Kumble is a Kannadiga and Kannadigas have the right to celebrate. If you can't handle it, ignore the posts and move on. And though totally irrelevant, since you mentioned it, let me set the record straight here. Verappan is not a Kannadiga.

If every one in country starts acting like this then there won%u2019t be many icons for you. Ok.Don%u2019t react passive alike in all situations.This is time to share.Do'nt feel robbed. Although majority of the wickets have come account in lifeless Indian conditions on doctored tracks and minefields, he did prove his mettle abroad on three occasions
South African tour 92/93, Australia 2003 and now.
Wouldn't have achieved to this extend had he played his carrer in genuine wickets.
Its ironic the top three Wicket takers in World Cricket are Spinners.
Apart from Murali and to some extent Warne, I would say the quality of pitches and batting friendly wickets has ruined the game robbing the flair that was there in the 80's and early 90's

Its Ironic becouse Fasters usually have a lesser life span due to energy hungry nature of art espically when it comes to sustain line and length without dropping pace and bounce. It applied to every one whether Grate Walsh, Ambrose, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Alan Donald, Gleen McGrath or Javangal Srinath.
I am a very huge Indian cricket fan residing outside India. Please please create a record that no one can break because if there is someone in India who can create a bowling record it's you. All the best...I'll be waiting for the record.

Kumble, u r genius. I wondered why did i dislike him ten years back. Just because his ball doesn't spin much !! But no !! If a bowler can get turn and bounce in any pitch anywhere in the world, then we should give him a big hands. I wonder who will lead the bowling attack once this spin wizard retires from test cricket. But we expect India will find a suitable heir in the form of Harbhajan Singh.

Other great cricketers are involved in controversies. Kumble is Mr. Clean. - Cool temperament - No sledging - Perfect action - Keeps low profile (this is his plus and minus point) - 99% accuracy in bowling - Can confuse any batsman in the world. - When speaks publicly sounds firm - Gentleman in cricket world - Perfect sports person - Smart captain.
What else do we expect? Am I missing any point about him?

These Kannada stuff will only narrow down his popularity due to creation of Kannada and non-Kannada feelings, unncessarily being brought in by Kannadigas. Stop it, folks. Be Indians first. He is a great and a noble guy without these sub-divisions, so, let him continue to be loved by ALL Indians.

So let us not follow by set examples. Let us start new examples. Kumble is big today because of his good qualities along with his acheivement becaues he is loved by whole country.The fact that he is from Karnataka can never be changed. So do'nt hopp upon that.
