The focus will shift to IPL now ..
by Reza Arif on Feb 19, 2008 06:49 PM

After this win .. all focus will move to IPL now for the next few days .. I hope Indians concentrate more on whats happening thr .. rather than concentrate on how much they are going to get in IPL...

Indian fans most unreasonable
by Ashok Trivedi on Feb 19, 2008 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

Indian fans have the shortest memory. If we win one match we forget it when we lose the next. Or the other way also.
Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid, Dhoni, Sachin all become heroes or villains every alternate day. It's too much.

You are right
last week everyone were accusing Dhoni for his comment...again today he played a good match winning inninig...if he play well he has right to comment anyone (including world class batsman Sachin, failed again)...

One Regret...
by Souvik Jana on Feb 19, 2008 06:45 PM  | Hide replies

I regret that Indian Bowlers didnt take the advantage when the first 2 wickets fell and let the Sri Lankan batting dominate them... Otherwise the result would have come very quickly...

DONT GET EXCITED!
by prasanna on Feb 19, 2008 06:45 PM  | Hide replies

People dont too exicited, its again the same old story, india will struggle to reach finals and again in final match they will lose the game, India always finds difficult to win away from home , there is also a bit of history involved in this. India has performed poorly away from home for atleast in the last 25 years(ask your dads they will also tell the same story in there times.). The reason is Corruption and politics wont leave even the game of cricket. Even in india they win some how by digging the pitches...

Can this is a Impressive WIN?
by Tanveer Shaikh on Feb 19, 2008 06:44 PM

I am very much sure that, India need to work on the basics and has to come out of Sachine Phobia, still we are struggling after Wicket of Sachine. This is really not a good sign, well we can claim that win is win%u2026. No the way we win is matters, and this is not our best win or best efforts. We lost 8 Wickets and in the last over we won%u2026.

If we made finals, I am not very much sure we will do something cheers India Fans%u2026.

But we are hardcore India Fans and wishes all the best of Luck to Team India%u2026

Do you think pressure in international cricket is so less that Sachin got a chance to score 16000 runs not being under pressure. Let's talk sense here!

C'mon guys .. dont gun for his head again ..

For the record his average batting second is around 45 .. and he has a much better strike rate at around 90!!!

IN matches whr India has won chasing his average is a phenomenal 56!! Which shows that India has a good chance of winning if he fires!! But he alone cant do the trick as Cricket is a team game .. Wait n watch . and enjoy the series ahead ..

Dear Sunil,

This is what we want to highlight that, If Dada, The Wall is outside%u2026 then why not Sachine%u2026.

When our Team learn to play without Sachine%u2026. Once they are adequate to play without Sachine.. they will automatically learn to play without Him.

To become like Australia, check out WEAKNESSES!!!
by Sai Prakash on Feb 19, 2008 06:39 PM  | Hide replies

To match great Teams like Australia who win even in difficult situations and do well consistently unlike Ind / SL / Pak etc who win 1 match and lose the next, we have to think about weaknesses which still exist instead of GLOATING over an unconvincing win.

Point No.1: Opening pair still not settled.
Is it Tendulkar and Gambhir OR Sehwag and Tendulkar
Point No.2. : Irfan came 1 down in 2 matches, Gambhir in 2 and now Uthappa.I feel Uthappa is a good bet because he is confident, a good striker and plays Pace well.
Point No.3 : Who are the 4th and 5th bowlers FINALLY identified? Bhajji looks weak, Praveen totally misfit for Big Opposition matches. Also, I feel Munaf's fielding and hopeless batting is a cause for concern.

If someone has answers to these please comment.

This is what I call analysis. This is fair enough! MSD and Yuvi have to look for the solutions to these problems! Very true..

Good work Sai.

Buddy,we have so many weajnesses.Lemme answer some of your questions though:
(1)Sachin Tendulkar has always been an excellent ODI batsman but never a great batsman like richards, miandad, lara, ponting or steve waugh who won a number of matches for their respective teams almost single-handedly.With age and injuries, tendulkar has come down a bit more and is, at best, a very good ODI batsman.Do not expect much from him at this point though even now,he is far superior to most Indian batsmen on view.
(2)Sehwag is consistently inconsistent and is truly misfit in an ideal ODI side.If you remember,he was performing very poorly in ODIs before being dropped though even at that stage, his test performance was average, not poor.
(3)Gautam Gambhir is a real mediocre. He has got so many chances over the last 5-6 years and should have become a dependable,match-winning batsman by now but is far from it.He is very weak outside the off-stump and can play decent innings only against relatively weaker sides.
(4)Robin Uthappa is not technically competent enough to face the moving ball as an opener or even at one down.He hasnt done anything of note over the last many matches.
(5)Bhajji is, at best, a stock bowler who on his day can stop runs but cannt win matches by taking 3-4 wickets. He hasnt improved as a bowler.
(6)Munaf's inclusion in the team is beyond any logic. He is not a match-winning bowler,is a very poor fielder and an even worse batsman. How can such such a guy play ODIs if ganguli cann

Yuvraj - The Prince
by Bharath on Feb 19, 2008 06:37 PM  | Hide replies

It was a majestic knock from Yuvraj.... The way he was timing and creaming those white kookaburra balls was a treat to watch....

Although many criticized dhoni for not resting Yuvraj, he always maintained that it was a matter of 1 match b4 he finds his form.

And boy, the way he did it was ominous for the bowlers.. And with fair respect to his innings, he got out to a ball which 9/10 times any player could get out to.... a beauty of a delivery which matched the quality of his innings.

Welcome back from the wilderness....

Hey Ritwik. Have you played any type of cricket?! Even if not played have you thought about facing Chaminda, Lasith and Muralitharan with a ball in their hands on the cricket field??

Ask any cricketer, they may not admit it but they get night-mares. Do you understand what I mean!?
