Ishant Sharma & Virat Kohli
by MKJFans on Aug 29, 2008 01:40 PM  | Hide replies

Its very nice to see my two friends doing good for India. I always feel that top 11 must play for India. Virat got a call as Virender is not well. I am watching him for many years. Virat has great potentials. Ishant also a friend , did fantastic in test series and past.

I had a chance to talk in DD news, My self Mudit Kumar Jain. I was there to discuss about olympics trimpth, A question was asked , was you more happy with Sushil Madel or more happy with Indian cricekt win on the same day.

AND MY ANSWER WAS ---
Sushil's win more valuable for me & i did not give any importance to Indain cricekt win on the same day.

Yes its my dream to do for Indian Cricekt ...But i am more with Indian Sports that is why my company name is

MKJ SPORTS ACADEMY (P) Ltd.

not

MKJ Cricket Academy

Thanks.

VVS LAXMAN
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Aug 29, 2008 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

99 % of the cricketers would have retired or given up the game if they were treated the same way they treated Laxman.
It talks about the resolve and strength of the person he has played more than 90 test matches.
Many selectors were looking for him to fail as they can bring their favorites in to the team.Whch joker is saying Laxman has failed in sri Lanka - he was far better than the icon , Saurav and even Dravid.
It is joke now that selectors are paid - they travel to foreign countries at the drop of hat , like politicans and spend months together in fvie star hotels - see how many days vengsarkar was out of the country and these guys cry like beggars when some income is deprived - like writing article - most of the time it is like a student who do not know the answers fill the papers . I stopped reading all these so called expert past cricketers scribbling as the content is zero and repeat the same aging and again praise their choice players .Can you read Jaffer scoring less than 20 runs and some past cricketer commenting he was great as long as he was at the crease .sarav having scored 60 odd writing his misery ended when he out. JOKERS.

Yes no doubt.
But he never plays in the test match because he is not the captain

I hate this attitude

Not because he's not the captain. The team plays a lot of matches. They too need rest. He has done the right thing.

Bald Head
Musings on Selectors
by Bald Head on Aug 28, 2008 12:02 PM

Fans, common men, bloggers all - INCLUDING ME, are guilty of extreme views and hasty judgements.

When the team does well or any individual player plays well, we become surcharged with positive emotions and start praising sky high using all best adjectives we can conjure up.

When situation goes otherwise, we throw the same team and same players into dustbin and use filthiest of abuses and ask for heads to roll.

Vengsarkar took over as selector in 2005, invoking views and counterviews. People said lot of things like his being a Mumbaikar and accused him of being supported by Pawar, supporting Tendulkar etc.

Three years down the line, it is clear that Vengsarkar truly had the interests of the team at the core of his heart. He plumped for seniors in selecting the test team and went for youth in selecting team for ODIs and T20 matches, showing a high level of independent and farsighted approach and judgement, notwithstanding pulls and pressures from many fronts.

I think that we need balanced people like him to continue. I am totally against the zonal selection system and an unwieldy 5 member selection committee.

BCCI should appoint a single professional selector (former player with minimum 25 tests and / or 50 ODIs to his credit) for each zone.

Vengsarkar should be the national selector who should choose from the players of the zones thereafter.

The selectors should be assisted by qualified people who can help with statistics, physical fitness etc.

retire the fab four (with a reason)
by Allen on Aug 28, 2008 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

The headline is not jingoestic but it's with a reason. The fab four couldn't handle Mendis(the menace) even after 5 innings(in total of 6 innings) but Dhoni's young dhurandars with Dhoni leading from front did it in just 1 innings.... How's that ?????

Guys, they only won one seires (if u leave the 20-20 worldcup) now without any help from at least one guy from the fab4.
and one day wickets are flat , first understnad the difference between once day cricket and test cricket. and the same fab4 were responsible for victories against australia,South africa and England in their respective countries. currrently they are not in form, but as there is a saying form is temporary, class is permanent.

Yeah...thatz the reason...Dhoni opted out of the test series...fatigue was only the reason...there were guys who have played more cricket on consistent basis for longer periods...Dhoni didn't want to face Mendis straight-up since the latter had taken 6 wickets in the Asia cup final...Moreover, his test form is still wanting...anything better than dismal...of course...he is the only guy however, in the present team who does not gift his wicket but makes the opposition to earn his wicket...rest all including Gambhir, Yuvi, Kohli even Raina play recklessly...coming to seniors...this young bunch has to prove a lot more at the test level to come anywhere near the fab 4. For the time being I can't even think of any of these players who will represent India both in Test and one-dayers at least for the next 6-7 years continuously even if he is given continuous run...they live by flamboyancy and not adaptability...If not Dhoni...the present one-day team is very fragile without a sheet-anchor...just like the cycle stand..one falls...all others will fall...just because they have won one series...dont keep them on the pedestal..let them rise to the pedestal themselves by their efforts like the fab4...test cricket is not about playing 50 overs but continuing relentlessly for 5 days without physical, mental fatigue...

One day wickets are better than tests also haven't Laxman played well in that series? Truly only Sachin, Kumble and Ganguly were the flops in the test series.

what's the logic.."One day wickets are better than tests"..wickets are same but in test cricket, you get extra time to settle down and then deal with bowler. In one day cricket you don't have that luxury and going by Raina and Dhoni's striking rate, they didn't need also. When you say world class, don't compare them with Zimbabwe or Bangladesh team but compare them with aussies or SA. Tell me, will Sachin, Dravid, Dada and Laxman get a chance to play for Austrailia in current form??

The Fab four will definetely not play for Australia ion current form. However Indian selectors fear about dropping these legends. Some senior former players also keep on reminding the fans about their (fab4) past records and also add about how many years of cricket is still left in them ! No one doubts their contribution, however one should study their current form.

he will require a lot of time. He is good in domestic cricket but we have seen so mnay ranji players faring very ordinary in international cricket. That's because we have a poor format of domestic cricket
