A big Joke...
by neha agrawal on Aug 24, 2008 07:09 PM  | Hide replies

This really is an insult to Cricket..and this statement means that Paki is not suiatable for any form of cricket...
what part of world is spared of such terrorist activities??...but cricket move on.
I think only SA is responsible for this..& instead of penalizing them ,pakistan will suffer...
There has never been any incident in Paki where cricket has suffered or any harm occurred ..
So in my view this is very irrelevant move...
NOW..i know i will get replies like if I am Pakistani..But I am NOT..I am Indian who loves India & cricket...
But fact is fact...

Neha....some facts submitted before you....

What other world bodies have have failed to do is done by South African Team supported by ICC. They have indirectly stated that Pakistan is a "Rogue State" with ISI and democracy in place. As one can see already there is problem selecting/electing President in Pakistan! More attacks are to follow under current poltical climate! Hostory has never been wrong!Q Pakistan doesn't deserve democracy ! The current key poltical leader Nawaz Sheriff is a sympathiser of Taliban. ISI is happing happy days, Dawood is enjoying accommodation in Pakistan. How one will dare to go there to play Cricket? Those supporting Cricket there must go to watch Cricket in Pakistan, if they have guts. South Africa is not money hungry BCCI. They have done what BCCI could not do. It is intersting to note ICC is supporting to call Pakistan a "Terror State"!!! Unless many more come forward to treat Pak and Pakis this way, there will be no light at the end of the tunnel!!!-Bala, Canada

Balar..
How one will dare to go there to play Cricket? Those supporting Cricket there must go to watch Cricket in Pakistan, if they have guts.
those are your most meaningful lines..I agree...
But if you note..In paki there are only few terror prone ares..like Karachi ..and this is happening due to their democracy problems..
..But other states are peaceful..like Lahore..
so ICC could have shifted the venues accordingly instead of postponing it..
and does it make any sense that after 1 yr Champions trophy rights to host it remain with Paki...If then..why not now??..how they can say after 1 yr there will be complete peace..

Once which started to destabilize India, is now destabilizing Pakistan. A good example of getting a dose of his own medicine. World at large is taking note of a country which harbored terrorism and is now being plagued by terrorism. Playing cricket is far off reality, where u have ur life at stake. Terrorism cannot be limited to prone areas, was Ahmedabad and Bangalore a prone area. Taliban is not there for democracy problems. The International committees are not bunch of fools, they have taken decisions based on scrutiny and facts.

Neha, it's nice of you to defend cricket and Pakistan's right to have CT played there. But newspapers are full of suicide bombing reports in taht country.Karachi, Lahore, capital Islamabad all have been targeted by suicide bombers and all these attacks have been on their security forces. That is really scary. As Al Pacino says in " Scent of a Woman"- "there are two kinds of people in this world: those who stand up and face the music, and those who run for cover. Cover is better." :)

It is surprising that international players are asked to risk their lives by taking part in the Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan. As a simple Indian I would not like to visit Pakistan in its present state. If Army was in charge safety would have been better. Now the warring coalition is not in control of itself, leave alone the country. The powers that be will claim at the end of the day that they were aware of the LOC crossings from the Indian press. In this situation danger to international visitors is the easiest thing to happen. The risk of a international event being attacked by jihadis is immense.Discretion is better part of valor.Nobody is proving his love of/committment to cricket by taking part in the Champions Trophy.Pakistan can hold the tournament in better times.

ICC and Champion Trophy!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Aug 24, 2008 07:02 PM

Does ICC think that security situation will improve in a year's time? It is about time that ICC trashes this tournament altogether. As it is, there is too much cricket being played.

Really applauding work...One way there is ISI, second country full of so called third party terrorists, third full of al-qaida & taliban supporters, fourth full of madrasas which only preach & teach terrorism and jihadi's.... eventually no security, where full of poision exists...

Pakistan and cricket
by BALA SUBRAMANIYAN R on Aug 24, 2008 06:35 PM

It is a good sign now international cricket community is turning wiser than many world bodies!!! This community has indirectly called pakistan "A Rogue State" which means that pakistan cannot be trusted for any international event as the ISI and mullas there are most intolerant and provide asylum to terrorists like Dawood and support terror attacks. Govt of Pakistan too continue to support this. Now political terrorist and Taliban's staucn supporter Nawaz Sheriff, under whom Kargill War was launched is the key poltical leadr, therefore it is a good sign atleast one international community has come forward to reject pakistan and paki public!!!Now it is world leaders who have to learn from this and declare Pakistan as "Rogue State"!!!-Bala,Canada

by neha mishra on Aug 24, 2008 06:34 PM  | Hide replies

we can't have any tournaments in terrorist countries...the country who can't even save their prominent leaders like Benajir Bhutto, then how can we expect them to give proper safety to our players.
I also feel that countries like Pakistan should be banned from ICC for playing any cricket. their should not be any place 4 animals between decent gentleman's.

Champions Trophy in Pakistan postponed - A Big Mistake by ICC
by jamsheed abumohammed on Aug 24, 2008 06:30 PM  | Hide replies

The decision of the ICC to postpone the Champions Trophy in Pakistan was a sad one. It was indeed a big mistake on the part of the ICC purely on account of the withdrawal by South Africa. The ICC should have thought of shifting the venue, if the security in Pakistan was the main concern. The three nations in the sub-continent viz., India, Pakistan and Sri-Lanka have their own security problems. There was conflict in the backyard of Colombo, where India is currently playing ODIs without any problem. They could have shifted the venue to Lanka. In India there were serial bombings and despite that there was no security concern even though situation is not normal in Kashmir. If the sub-continent was not safe, the ICC should have shifted the venue to either Dubai or South Africa. Instead they chose to postpone it by next year. This is not fair and would kill the spirit of the game. ICC must rethink on it and conduct the Trophy elsewhere within a month or so. This would not upset the calculations of the cricket playing countries and their calender can be adjusted accordingly. The boycott of South Africa was also unfortunate despite the fact that the ICC team gave a clean chit to Pakistan over security aspect. In any case, the game of cricket has suffered and people interest would be lost due to it. It is therefore advisable to all playing countries to press for early conduct of the postponed Trophy early so that people would get a chance to see a good tournament that is so dear.

if you really want all muslims not to be blamed...then start protesting against terrorism. I haven't seen muslims ever criticizing terrorists . that thus mean that they enjoy it and are strong supporters. remember you are just gathering a place for urself in the graveyard by holding ur silence. come out and criticize them before people kill you assuming you as a supporter of terrorism.
