Compare with professional football, baseball, and boxing
by summer on Sep 08, 2007 01:59 AM  | Hide replies

India's cricket players make very small fraction of wages offered to Professional sports players. They deserve lot more looking at the number of people entertained. If the leading Bollywood actor makes 8 crores in one movie then it will be fair to pay Tendulkar same amount for one series of 7 one day tests.

850 USD for board member and 75 USD for sachin/ganguly .....Shame for Indian Cricket
by Hitesh Verma on Sep 08, 2007 01:55 AM

Our GOVT or SC shud ban BCCI for a lifetime if people like Sharad Pawar continues to be in the charge of BCCI.I don't think,he has ever held cricket bat or ball, even in his childhood, for playing. These goons don't even have self respect ,they continue to mint money even if our team fails continuously. They give damn to proper selection.WAt has BCCI given so far to our cricketing religion? We've yet see it.

Kapil is after money...why should sachin and ganguly be paid $75 a day..they already make huge sums through match fees & endorsements. BCCI officials rely on only the salary and travel expenses...Kapil is talking rubbish...Ban ICL and Cheers to BCCI

Kapil wasnt complaining Sachin and saurav are given no money. He only meant that BCCIs members are given more than ten tmes the money for having the ability to fool people like you and steal from BCCIs coffers when the actual people responsible for that money ,are the cricketers and the fans who watch India play.

And ,were you suggesting that the board members are poor? Do you think they are there for 'serving Indian Cricket'?
And lets know why you think ICL should be banned and why BCCI feels threatened? Also who gave them the right to ban other organisations and players joining it?.please.

BCCI people say they do that as an honarary post holders else Sharad Powar can't head any portfolio in India govt. Remember Office of Profit issue. For cricketers that is their profession so you can't compare a board member with a player.

Don't support ICL or BCCI both are now political body now and are now spoiling the name of cricket.
We should only watch and apriciate good cricket and put a full-stop to all these stories as they are not going to benifit any of us, you can take it as a overdose of cricket.

Well done though late!!
by Praveen Goud on Sep 07, 2007 11:48 PM

Kapil should have done this couple of years back.Though late,it's time to compete for QUALITY of professional players through these divisions avoiding monopoly of a single board lavishing their positions for decades at the expense of country's prestige and team's victory. All the best in your endeavors..........

Go Kapil Pah'ji !!!
by Arv Singh on Sep 07, 2007 11:34 PM  | Hide replies

Kapildev is still the icon for the North Indian players. Although he played from Haryana, Kapil is a true Punjabi and we love him for his achievements in Cricket. At this moment he needs support from his fans and fellow cricketers in this crusade for ICL. I think ICL would be great for Indian Cricket where promising cricketers will get opportunity to play against the international players. I can also understand the anger of IS Bindra since Punjab has lost a large number of players to ICL. The BCCI and its heavyweights like Sharad Pawar, Niranjan Shah, Ranbir Singh Mahendra (son of Chudhari Bansilal, former chief minister of Haryana), and IS Bindra have been controling the destiny of Indian Cricket for a long time. Most of these are political appointees and probabaly never played International Cricket. I would support Kapil Pah'jis idea to get senior players such as, Gavasker, Prasanna, Bedi, Pataudi, and Madanlal involved in the management of Indian Cricket. I think we learned a lesson with our experiment with Greg Chappel. Indian Cricket needs an Indian Coack who understands the players, pitches, and locale to lead the team.

Dear friend, Of course right, but for one correction Kapil (the legend I would always refer him) is not a North Indian Sport icon, He is a global star, that%u2019s why he was awarded the Wisden Cricketer of the Century above his peers by an International Body. Such was his contribution to Indian cricket. If one remember%u2019s his one and only century which he scored way back in 1983 still rated as the 5th best of all time in onedayer%u2019s after 25 years. Moreover BBCI is becoming a monopoly which is not good for the game of cricket. The quality will improve once you have healthy competition, So ICL should be promoted and cheers to players and organizers who have made a good step forward in promoting the game. Welcome ICL

BCCI-- Bunch of jokers
by sundar rajan on Sep 07, 2007 11:33 PM

I agree with Kapil and i storngly support ICL. ICL is trying to bring in Professional cricket like english county..Wats wrong in it if they make money out of it, Is the BCCI not making money? they are making millions of dollars through Tv rights and Ad-rights. First BCCI needs to be cleaned with all those jokers sitting down and taking decisions and spoiling the name of Indian cricket.
