hilarious reading
by jayasimha on Sep 04, 2007 10:56 AM  | Hide replies

Read Roger Binny's article and you will laugh--one series win in England in his days and they talk as if they conquered the world--they comment on fielding--he should see some video shots of himself and his peers fielding/irresponsible batting and bowling before giving expert views.
They are all ICL stooges who have suddenly discovered love for cricket and country.

The time at which they were fielding is different. They were not having so called "fielding Coach" at that time. The Current Indian team is having all facilities and still don't know to field.

agreed--but forget catching--have you seen a Prasanna or any one else with the same girth running or chasing a ball--the only agile fielder was Eknath Solkar.

You are absolutely wrong dear. Binny was an athlete before he ventured into cricket. He had a superb rhythm as a bowler and he was a capable and reliable fielder. There are occasions when he fell flat on the ground and stopped the ball with his belly or body (obviously bearing stinging pain)to prevent certain fours.

Probably you saw the video clippings of fielding by the likes of Mohinder Amarnath, Anshuman Gaekwad, Yashpal Sharma and have thrown the stone at the wrong tree!

can India play well without the 3 senior players who are the base of India?
This will be a big test for the junior players. If they do well, Indian future will be bright.

Mind it, retirement age is 58. So Sachin should not retire before at least makes 58 century both the test & ODI.

why sachin should retire so early? He is playing like he was playing at the age of 18.He still have many years to play for India if he continues to play the way he is batting now.

If he had to quit with his head held high he should have gracefully retired three years back. Today, after seeing him struggle to put bat on the ball and unable to score that elusive 100 in tests or ODIs even after getting three to four lives every innings he stands exposed. Statistics speak for themselves. He had scored 15000 odd runs but how many matches has he won 4 India. He should voluntarily quit the game without further making a mockery of himself because the spineless selectors and administrators would never drop him. If he continues this way may be the cricket fans would some day kick him out.

How many matches have he won for India ? He just played a huge part in winning the last match played by India. He played another huge part in winning the 2nd match of the current ODI series. He played a big part in the 2nd Test match won by India in the Test series. 29 of his 41 ODI hundreds have been match winning, 1 match with no-result. He averages 57.03 in ODI matches won by India,, and 64.41 in Test matches won by India. Have you got the answer of how many matches he have won for India ?

MISLEADING TITLE!!
by Reza Arif on Sep 04, 2007 10:33 AM

The title of the article is misleading .. Roger Binny says "Maybe we'll miss Tendulkar's batting, particularly his versatility at the crease."

But I do feel that Sachin will be missed specially because of his present batting form .. Dravid too is in splendid touch and hitting the ball at will .. however, as sachin is a better batsman and can bowl a bit .. Sachin's services will be missed sorely..

Sometimes u got to respect extraordinary talent dude. Look at hollywood, the biggest industry in the world and show me three genuine young actors?

Check the average age of the australian cricket team.

India has picked a reasonably good side. And no one here is crying about Sachin or the other seniors. Sehwag isnt old by any means and will come in handy for the twenty20 if he bats in the same way as ODIs.

Tendulkar should be back in Twenty20
by Nihar on Sep 04, 2007 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

Ganguly is of no use and thankfully not included in twenty20 squad. But India will definitely miss Sachin the kind of form he is running into now-a-days. Don;t forget his useful knocks in future cup against SA and in England too recently. Ganguly is nowhere matching closer to him. In last match he just picked 2 imp wkts. That's it. Ganguly has forgot that the test match series is over and he needs to play fast. Rediff, do no mark this message as abuse.

What do u know about Ganguly's record. Over 11000 runs in one day and more than 6000 runs in test. And probably the most successful captain of India. Rediff. Please include an category as STUPID mails and dump Nihar's mail as one.

Wht r u talking abt? Sachin has scored two half centuries in three tests and five ODIs in SA, and two 50s in three tests and two 50s in 5 ODIs against England. None of his innings except the one in the fifth ODI v/s Eng could be termed as match winning. Moreover, he has not been able to lead the fight and save a test or ODI in SA or Eng. Come on man get real. One innings and u guys go gaga and compare him to God. He was a better player but today he is an average player with better talent and a poor fielder. Could India have benefitted from this liability if he was not kicked out of 20-20? Give freshers and chance, even if if we lose.
