Murali Had a decent stint in English county season. But he has done well in this match and i hope will get better. There is another spinner Pragyan Ojha who is making waves. Would like to see what this youngster is made off. As of now all the best to Harbhajan and Murali Kartik

because once you crossed your 50 then you
have to accelerate your innings and try to improve your strike rate, but sachin failed to
do that even after his 50,

and also don't see the run rate...that is misleading. see the balls spent... if sachin had scored 200 runs at even 79.00% that would have been a disaster ...

The answer to your question is Sachin took 91 balls to reach 50. He made up on his scoring rate later.

Drop Dravid if He is Slow/Does not Make Runs
by Shivkumar Singh on Oct 09, 2007 08:39 AM  | Hide replies

Performance not Experience should be the criterion. If necessary drop Tendulkur too.

dear readers,
no need to comment on this. no one realise the value of "eyes" until it is lost. time will show u the value of sachin, even if no body is inevitable to the team

Dravid should make way for Badrinath. I think this is why Badrinath has been taken in.

Lets see what happens when India bat 2nd
by Supratik on Oct 09, 2007 06:44 AM  | Hide replies

When a team bats first and scores big runs you would always favour that team to win the game. But nevertheless the Aussies chased very well yesterday and only came up 8 runs short - India would have most like folded if they were chasing the same score.
But India still have a lot to do to stay in the series. They need to find a way to get through Hayden and Gilchrist early. I don't think this can be done through Zaheer Khan. He has been getting hammered by these two for years. Maybe bowl him first change and give Pathan the new ball? He swings the ball and Aussies are always a bit bothered by good swing bowling. Maybe even consider opening with Harbhajan?
The experience of Ganguly & Tendulkar at the top should help while batting, especially while chasing a high target. Whereas a young player in that situation may be tempted to try and hit everything out of the park these two can bat intelligently through hostile periods. Although (like most Indian batsmen) their recent records while chasing against Aus aren't too great I think they are India's best chance of countering Lee & Johnson.

A Gud Idea yaar :-) We know the Aussies always study and analyse the opposition...So why not surprise them by opening the bowling with Bhajji...That is ,first over bowled by Bhajji

India Vs Aus ODI
by Ramani Bangalore on Oct 09, 2007 05:52 AM

There is no doubt that onlyIndia can challenge the supremacy of Australia in World Cricket. India is inconsistent in performance but are learning fast. Australia on the otner hand after losing so many players are on downward swing. Further their selection is also flawed. Gilchrist is no longer a player that he was but like India the Aussies are also reluctant to replace their experienced players. Haddin has been in the threshold of entering big league for quite a whileand has been kept away because of Gilchrist. In the present series also their insistance to play with Hodge instead of Haddin who is in good form has cost them a match already.

What Iam trying to say is that selection problems and the reluctance to drop trusted ones are there with every board and notonly BCCI.7

At last they have turned it on.........
by RAHUL SAWANT on Oct 09, 2007 02:22 AM

Hi Guys,
Congrats...But nothing to get excited you have won and you have to win b'coz u r there to win games.Todays performance from Sachin-Sourav was straight slap on Mr.Selectors face as the proved they have lot in them still. Our bowling was at below par.The only bowlers that I can see are IRFAN & BHAJJI.Consistent performers with lots of variations.India need 2-3 bowlers of their likes.RP and Zaheer have the ability but it has to be on the show and not on the pages.Dhoni is a great sign for Indian future.Well the only absence I am feeling in the squad is VEERU.He has to be there in playing 11 he is a player who can take the gama away from you in no time.He can bat up the order in middle order and can be handy with bowl as well.A great aset to have in a side.It would be great if he is selected in rest of the games.ALL THE BEST TEAM INDIA...........

Dhoni deserves the credit!!!
by Arv Singh on Oct 09, 2007 01:55 AM  | Hide replies

It was quality captainship from the skipper and the entire team rallied behind him. Solid start by Ganguly and Sachin laid the foundation that was further extended by Yuvraj Singh who steadied the run rate. Dhoni and Uthappa then had room to blast the Aussie bowling line-up to raise a respectable 291. Rahul Dravid was the exception but he is one of the most talented batsman in the team and I am sure he will recover.

Dhon's decision to send Yuvraj and himself higher up i the batting order was an example of him thinking ahead. His field placements were impeccable and Austrailians found it difficult to find the boundary in the last overs.

Even in the bowling, Dhoni rotated his bowlers cleverly not allowing the Aussies to settle down on a bowler. He is very modest in accepting the praise but this was a great display of leadership and Dhoni deserved this victory for his clever planning.
