I Guess Sehwag should given a chance to Open with Wasim in the remining matches. His previous record is Good and he is trying to make a comeback as well.

Nobody is mentioning Kumble as an opener. that wouldnt be a bad option anyway!!

I think Gautam Gambhir is the most natural choice. Sehbag fails in reliability.

Even I feels the same way , juss wanted to see a 200 or more by a batsman on the very first day with Team score 350/400 .
In the next test at Bangalore, Ganguly should open the innings with Jaffer and Yuvraj Singh to be recalled to replace out-of-form Karthick who can be a 12-th man in the side.
There is nothing new in sending Ganguly on top of the batting order as he is a natural opening batsman in ODIs.

Ganguly wants the opening slot in ODIs only,remember the last Pak tour where Ganguly refused to open with Sehwag & b'cos f that Dravid opened the innigs with sehwag.

how do you know that Ganguly refused to open.. the reports were contrary to that .. Gangs was asked to open & on that Rahul asked him Not to & then the argument happened.. However technical ability wise Rahul is better suited to open in Test Matches.
Team 1 Bat First was all out in 24.1 overs with 150 Runs on Board or they can also Dec. tge ings and rest of the wickets can be used in the secoond ings. Team 2 Needs to bat next. They need to pipe the 150 runs in as much limited overs as they can. Let us assume in 19.1 overs they score 155 for the loss of 2 wickets. Now Team 1 Needs to bat once again for (50-25-2) for 23 Overs. They score around 180 Runs for lost of 2 wickets in this 23 overs. Now Team 2 needs to get this score of (150 180) - 155 in (50 - 20 2). They will have 18 wickects in hand to achive this target.
It's better to open with Laxman as he experienced that earlier with Sidhu and scored well against Aussies.Now, get Karthik out and Yuvraj(-The future of Indian cricket) in. Think about it. Good idea I think.

Play Laxman as opener? There can be no better way of destroying one of our most reliable middle order batsmen!
Agreed you are a great fan of Yuvi, just like me, but it does not do any good to the team if you sacrifice a well established player by making hime take a role which he had not done for a long long time.
Unfortunately, there are no openings for Yuvi yet. He has to wait some more.

The position that suits VVS (very very slow?) Laxman is in the middle order. Despite his much talked about flair and ability, he has failed to make a mark on international cricket.How long will talented bats like Yuvi have to wait on the sidelines, while VVS bores us to daeth?He (Yuvi of course)can score at a fast clip and lift the game to a much higher plane than VVS can ever dream of.

What are you saying??? VVS (Very Very Special) have won many matches (test) for us!!! I prefer shewag to open instead of karthik...now as the pakistan boweler is weak...GIVE A CHANCE TO SHEWAG!!! Man....when he is in FORM....PAKISTAN is DOOMED!!!

VVS laxman is a class player and he has proved time and again..I think u dont have much knowledge of cricket..otherwise u would not have commented on VVS..It is he who has won us the historic test match at Eden gardens in March 2001 against Australia..Even now..Aussies fear of VVS..its quite foolish to compare anyone with him..no matter how talented they are..he is really one of the most gifted players of Indian cricket

here we need to follow aussie principal in case of langer. Langer is not finding any place in the middel order and only place that is left is Opening when michal slater dropped. Aussie selectors asked langer about his opinion about opener spot and asked him what do you say? Langer grabbed the offer in 2 hands and became a successful opener. Same case with yuvi, Selectors and senior mgmt should sit with him and say, guy you r in a prime form and say you dont have a place in the middle order atleast in the next 2 years. Now its ur choice, do you want to waste ur time sitting in the bench or wanted to come as an opener. He may lack technique. But if he works hard, nothing is impossible.
Selectors, BCCI and senior mgmt have to deal with this situation in a professional manner. Nothing is impossible and anythign can be worked if the peole have will to do. if sehwag can be successful as a test opener with minot adjustmenets, why cant Yuvi?

It is stupid to move well established middle order players to the opening slot just to accomodate some other player.
Why not ask Yuvraj to open? Are you afraid that he will fail and therefore want to make someone else the 'bakra'?
