FOR YOU 'THE MOCK IAN CHAPPEL'

Original Ian Chappel (the great cricketer from Australia, not this nickname-holder) once remarked "I think, in cricket, there is no need for a coach. That's why I don't look for a job as a coach."

From tis, readers might understand how much importance they should give on the remarks of this 'MOCK IAN CHAPPEL', the writer of these articles.

Mr. Chappel.
the coutinious 4 loss of Aus Team and the loosing the match with NZ by 10 wikets "is board of winning the cup?" Off course we Indians deserve to win the Cup. It is not due to Aus couch,it is joint effer of players. Couch is the part and parcel of the team.

The man of the match of the 4th ODI shuld be Yuvi and not Silva.Silva hit 107 runs off 107 deliveries, but yuvi was fast.He just took 83 deliveries for his awesome 95 with 11 fours and 3 huge sixes.

I think think the Indian selectors had gon mad when they selected Sehwag & Irfan.
We saw what rubbish sehwag did in the last match!!! everyone was laughing!!! As far as Irfan is concern, he is a talented lad but he is out of form and injured right now!!!

I agree completely with you. I hope that Anil Kumble get an injury before or during the World Cup to put him in the team. Powar was performing better with the bat and ball and took match-winning wickets. Whereas Kumble is struggling in the ODI with the ball and is not taking much wickets. Plus he can't bat.

Tendulkar -do we need him??
by nitin verma on Feb 18, 2007 07:52 AM  | Hide replies

I believe in the present scenario there is not much of a place for Tendulkar.Due accolades to him for all these years of hardwork but its time now that he lets the youngsters do their bit for indian cricket. over the past years all the stats show how poorly he has performed while chasing totals.what was a tiger like approach has mellowed down to more like a meek lamb.time and again he fails when we are chasing totals? the question is - what is he in the team for Experience, Batting or Bowling??? what should be his forte has been taken to shreds in the past couple of years and we are seeing more of bowling discussing as his prime roles. I dont really fell that it is the role for him in the playing eleven. he has to bat & that too upto his standards if he should stay in the team. one good series doesnt make him an automatic chioce for the world cup!!!
i hope our team the very best of luck.

Can anybody explain the selection of Man of the Match Chamara Silva of Sri Lanka? The selection is absolutely baseless, especially whenyou have Youvaraj Singh with 95 runs in 83 balls and in winning side. The selection is a blunder who ever have made the selection.

Hello Friend,
I think selectors have given Man of the match consolidation prize for Sri Lanka Player.Youvraj have played a wonderfull inning and have taken India to match and series winning win position. If he had not clicked at right time India may had lost the match and susequently the series.People remember It has Happend in the past. Full points to YouvRaj.The way he palyed the inning and last last over.

Sri Lanks player Chamara Silva played a good inning but Yuvraj was teh deserving candidate for the man of teh match award. Doesnt matter india won the match and series. A Consolidation prize for Lankans.

Good Luck to Team India

We can do it ONLY if we WANT to do it...So...???
by Sid Ovaline on Feb 18, 2007 04:37 AM  | Hide replies

With New Zealand coming up to great forms at the right time (beating Australia thuddingly recently), England rejuvenated after the One-Day series win in Australia, beating Australia in 3 consecutive matches, South Africa thumping the Pakis recently and previously India, and to top it all West Indies slashing India into pieces when India last visited West Indies less than a year an year back.....this World Cup challenge will be the toughest one faced ever!! So, I believe India need to go larger than life in spirit and skills and win the right matches at the right time.

Remember, in the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan lost badly to West Indies, India, Australia, New Zealand and drew an almost-lost match with England. Yet they somehow lifted themselves with the skills of Inzamam and leadership of Imran Khan to win the crucial matches and finally the coveted Cup.

So, Come On Team India....forget about the contract renewals, the auctions to attend, the inaugural ribbons to be cut, the flash lights of the ad modelling shoots, the "bookies" offers, the excuses of injuries, the controversies in the selection, the politics and conspiracies, the "quota" system, the naughty bum-slaps at nightclubs and parties.....and be focussed for this War of the Willows....

And please stop this GRE CHAPPELL - SAURAV GANGULY topic ....I reckon, Saurav actually revived his career and put it on the right track after slashed off the team by Greg. If we look at Ganguly's statistics of 15 MATCHES BEFORE OMMISSION and 15 MATCHES AFTER OMMISSION...then we will understand that he probably needed this slap on the wrist, for a better future of his team and himself...His fire power was gone which Greg rekindled. He started taking Team India for granted but couldn't accept the other way round.

However, at this juncture, we don't need a political roar before the team departs for World Cup...and so, fans, PLEASE SHUT UP FOREVER ON THE GREG-SAURAV TOPIC and just enjoy watching the game of the Lords..

Remember TEAM INDIA, if you have been selected to represent a trouble-struck worried population of 110 crores, then it's your automatic responsibility to care for their smiles and give 200% on the filed just for those few days of the tournament. You know, it's quite funny if you notice that when you excelled on the field, your 'Off-Field' assignment concerns have always been in good shape and size...So, Please Please Please....do not cheat us this time, and let us live with a pride of the examples Team India sets on the field after those supposedly inspiriting huddles! WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST ....Go India!!! (Thank you for your patience to read the whole article)

Sir, Good to see Ganguli making is presence felt on the crease. I am on of his fans. But I would like to say that dropping of Ganguli of indifferent form was justified. Please dont count his test century which he scored against Zimbawe at a painfully slow rate, which almost took soo much time that easy for India match would have gone draw. He should have been dropped evn pruor to that when he was playing hopelessly against Pakistan, and because of his form India lost at home to Pakistan. Yes I agree the players should not be given a extended run when they fail, but dropped immidiatly. This parameter should be for all. Even great Sachin needs to rest now and come back after finding his touch.
Difference between the 2 indian Greats is very clear now, Ganguli presently wants to show what he has in him and Tendulkar wants to hide what ever he has. Time for him to do introspection. I want be surprised if he gets droppedd in few of the world cup matches.

perfectly correct. Ganguly's stats tell this. he was dropped bcos of non- performance. his average in the last 1 year before being dropped, went to 19 . the manner of his dismissal in the pakistan series would make anybody hate him. just the manner he was throwing his wicket out of frustration.clearly showed he was struggling.

Give him his due
by Jas Sand on Feb 18, 2007 03:10 AM  | Hide replies

Mr. Radha Krishnan,

When Dravid was about to lose his place due to slow batting, it was Ganguly who retained him by making him the wicketkeeper. When Tendulkar complained about his failures in the middle order, Ganguly sacrified his open slot and went into the middle order, thereby losing his own form, so that the Best Batsman of the team ( Tendulkar) got the place he wanted.

He was the one who rose above regional feelings and said good bye to the quota system and picked the best ... he never tried to promote players based on Bengali Origin or the East Zone, in contrast with Azhar (all southie India team except Tendulkar and Ganguly) or Tendulkar (Majority Mumbai Team)

By the way Dravid was one of the key decision makers in Ganguly's team and he was the Batting Captain!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS ...

Yes Ganguly might have made some mistakes and one can criticize him for that ... but why blame him for the factors he deserves to be praised about?
