These r Rahul Dravid's scores against the Aussies in 2004-05 tour (look at the clean bowled and lbws). You be the judge whether right now when he is in such an awful batting form, should he really go to Aus. If he can't score against this Pak team, how can he score against the Aussie bowling?

you made the point earlier why are you repeating it again and again like a broken record. Let selectors worry about whom to drop and whom not to drop

truly said GIrish, if you you waste your time for selection of Indian cricket, no one will bother to give a "Chavanni". Do your job work or study, or help others, use your time in some constructive job. Hope you understand.

I just do it for fun, don't dig out internet for cricket history ..just to justify my openion...enjoy the cricket and forget it. its not your religion, I think this is the basic problem of Indians (us)....dil pe mat lo...and we should use our strength (if you strength is to do research on internet) for some productive work...like ...search what options are there to uplift Indian economy....etc.

I agree Sourav didn't perform in that series either. But soon thereafter he was dropped, and now since his comeback he is performing like anything. People who r not performing recently (last 9 tests) should sit out. Because if they go, they will come back so traumatized, that it will leave them with scars for rest of their lives.

Saurav fell sick after seeing the Nagpur pitch. Good that he didn't show up in Bombay as well. India lost Nagpur by a huge margin of 300 runs, but won Bombay test by 13 runs or so. This was actually the beginning of the end of dada. But he has made a nice comeback.

Well there were some incidents outside the cricket pitch too which brought his downfall. He went out of Dalmiyas good books around that time ..thatz how Jaggu leaked the email from chappell.

Fully agree with you. According to the logic which was applied to Sourav, Dravid right now should be dropped. He should rediscover his form and come back. But too bad, he is too old now. If he is dropped right now, he will never come back. So he will continue to play on and keep failing until he is simply chucked out.
RE:Dravid's scores against Aussies (2004-05)
by Ravi Ranjan on Dec 09, 2007 01:04 AM
Ganguly did not come back because of strong domestic performance after being dropped. His Ranji [ 0 and 1 vs Zaheer ] and county [ 27 runs in 7 games ] was dismal. His comeback has more to do with Yuvraj's injury and Kaif/Raina/Venugopal's failure. I agree Dravid should be dropped on current form. But he made a 200 and 100 score in 4 innings in domestic circle. So he has proved his form in Ranji, anyway. If you bring someone like Manoj Tiwari, Rohit Sharma or Badrinath- that'll also be based on domestic performance and there is no guarantee that it'll translate into big performance against Australia. If you want to blood youngsters we could have used the series against Bangladesh and to some extent Pakistan. But our best team is barely able to win- 1-0. If we were winning 3-0 against England or Pakistan we could have played some youngsters.

Well here once they are in the team they are in till they retire ...may b these big guys are seeing the higher ups properly. Else how can you explain a guy like Agarkar getting a repeated look in? So many deserved candidates are not getting their chances too.Tiwari,Badri,Raina,Rohit etc ..dunno when their chances are gonna come. These things they shd learn from Aussies ....See how they treated Hayden..
There is no point in taking Dravid to Australia. John Buchanan made a superb bowling and field plan against him, and he was not able to score at all against them when Aussies came to India in 2004-05. Look at the scorecards of those tests. It used to be Dravid making 20 runs in 130 balls and getting clean-bowled. They have simply unraveled the technique of the super-technician. They bowl a stump to stump line to him (one mistake and result bowled or LBW) and surround him by fielders on the both the sides. All his wristy flicks were going straight to midwicket and not yielding any runs. The same thing will happen again. Aussies have discovered a big hole in the wall!

Australia will have a plan for all batsmen of India. Let us see how they play against bowlers who swing and seam at an average speed of 145 km/h. But their one weak is spinner, nobody to replace incomparable Shane Warne

by hindublogger on Dec 09, 2007 12:28 AM
Looks like its going to four pronged pace attack. Also all the tracks are on the faster side it seems.and Sydney is not there this time
RE:RE:No point in taking Dravid to Australia
by Girish Rao on Dec 09, 2007 12:33 AM
yeah it is going to be a tough tour and their bowling attack is much better I feel than last time around. Three bowlers who bowl at around 150 ie really good. We have some chance in tests because of strong middle order. But in ODIs I guess we are going to lose heavily
RE:No point in taking Dravid to Australia
by hindublogger on Dec 09, 2007 12:41 AM
Girish middle order is not the same.Their reflexes are not the same anymore ..just curious to see how they are going to adapt on to those good wickets ..from these flat ones.BCCI shd have gone for some bouncier tracks for this series

Its a pity that we have such people like u who after this knock from ganguly and successive even comes to your mouth. I feel sorry for you and Dravid is the one who should be kicked. See his test performance in SA, Englad and Pakistan.

When Ganguly failed you ppl said the same thing....KICK him out When Sachin failed you again said he should retire.......Now its Dravids turn.........you ppl need a bakra.......hail we Indians....we can just think bad about other not support them in bad times...............God bless Indian Cricket Team and all seniors you people rock....if not for you we would not been so glorious like what we are today.........Today youngsters learn technique and temprament from you guys so they are in Indian team in the name of Yuvraj, Jaffer, Gambhir, Dhoni etc. etc. etc......the list goes on.................Ppl will always crib....but u ppl rock.

Yes indeed. Then: All out of form batsmen should be in team, and in-form people be kicked out.
Thieves should be awarded, and decent ppl should be put in jail.
Lousy bowlers should be in the team, and wicket takers should be shown the door. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
He really made me chew my words but at the end of it all Im happy as hell. Finally Yuvi does justice to his talent. Although he struggled a bit against Kaneria his strokeplay against the seamers was supreme. If only he can get over his hump hell turn out to be one of the greatest ever. What a batting lineup. Aussies must be pooping all over their underwear. Cmon India Dikha Do.
RE:Wow
by hindublogger on Dec 08, 2007 11:56 PM
Dude ..its not going to be flat batting tracks like these down under. If our batsmen are able to adjust their technique, they'll be able to put up a good fight ..else its going to be tough
RE:Wow
by no south on Dec 08, 2007 11:58 PM
That was astounding wasn't it. But too bad, when Sachin comes back, Yuvraj will have to either sit out, or be forced to open. And that Mr. Technically correct, but out of sorts batsman who has not contributed with the bat for last 9 tests, will still be hanging around. Things can't be more unjust than this.
RE:Wow
by Ravi Ranjan on Dec 09, 2007 12:33 AM
We can have someone from middle order open with Jaffer and keep Yuvraj. Either Dravid or Saurav can come in. Most of the time it'll be 10/1 after 5 overs against Australia, so one down batsman is pretty much opening.

sumangali one man's joke is another man's nonsense. u call it nonsense, and i call it a witty Siddhuism. To each his/her own!
I guess selectors were high on Ganja they made YUVRAJ sit outside. If their excuse was Yuvi's test record was not so good but Yuv'v track record against Pakistan is awesome in test cricket. In ODI's ,guy who has won MAN OF THE SERIES is left outside bunch of MORANS running the show.If you look at his past record he is the only player who has won MAN OF THE SERIES three times in row and performing consistently since 2005.Look at the knock he played today all over the ground and majority of them were classic shots & pls stop bashing Ganguly he is still not out and playing. Now Kumble has to think twice before dropping YUVRAJ ,can't believe he said(KUMBLE) "Yuvi has to wait for his turn".Yuvi is a team player excellent fielder and good runner between the wickets.Selectors pls don't be high on drugs next time you select a TEST team.

RE:Yuvi the best
by Rakesh Narayan on Dec 08, 2007 11:57 PM
Kumble said the right thing. Noone can prdict future. If you have seen yuvrajs past innings in tests and compared it with past games of the middle 4 and assessed it objectively youd choose the middle 4. Hes done well as hell, but this one performance doesnt justify hes better than the middle 4. What it shows however is he can play at that level. Finally we have the batting depth that the Aussies always had. With Jaffer looking solid, and having 2 keeper batsmen, this is easily the best batting lineup India ever had. There should be no problem mixing and matching lineups against different attacks. They should rotate Laxman, Dravid, Karthik, Yuvraj depending on conditions. Seaming wickets choice should be Laxman, Dravid and Yuvraj, and on turners yuvraj can be replaced by Karthik until Yuvi acquires the skill to play quality turn.
