Lee's pace too hot for India
by Jigs on Sep 23, 2006 11:24 AM

It was not only Lee's pace, but also good support from umpire Asad Rauf (who got it wrong for Dhoni and Harbhajan).

Team Chappel Carry On With Your Experiments
by Prodipto Ghosh on Sep 23, 2006 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

When we do not have the calibre to chase a total of 213, what is the use to dream that India will win the World Cup in 2007? Our great coach Greg Chappel has been successful in demoralizing the confidence of Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth etc. After his brilliant performance against the West Indies in the last match this young bowler had to sit out against Australia. Why could'nt we drop out of form Sehwag .... no we can't because he is the only Indian batsman to score a triple century and that will see him thru till the world cup. Pathan used to be our main strike bowler and even the Australian coach was surprised that pathan was not in the 1st XI ? One should now try Harbhajan Singh as an opening batsman as he is among runs nowadays or Mr. Chappel should send this team to
USA to be trained by the US Army as he had asked his team to have riffle shooting practice before the DLF Cup. I think this is the reason why Steve Waugh and many other Australian cricketters were surprised that Greg Chappel has been appointed India's coach....what a shame....

Prodipto,

This saurav supid fool, made a big mistake by not listening to Steve Waugh's advice. He shdnt have forced Chappel to become the coach.

team won 18 of 25 odis and lost some matchs ppl started balming dravid.
when ganguly out of team ind ranked 8th in icc ranking and now after 1yr dravid's captaincy ind is ranked IIIrd. What a hypocracy.
Dravid is not responsible for failure of individual players like irfan, dhoni, sehwag..

If dravid & team wins it is against secong hand team or match is fixed. But when team won under ganguly ppl say waht a glorious win and ganguly a grate captains.
team ind did not win all the matches under gangly. zimb is worst team than wi which ind won under ganguly's captaincy.
Player       M       W       L       D
SG       146       76       65       5
RD       45       25       18       2
Dravids odis batting average is better as a captain than as a batsman. Ind did not won all matches under ganguly.
Ppl make dravid also captain for equal no matchs like ganguly then compare
Dravid scored
0h 1046 runs at 74.71 in ten Tests and 694 runs at 40.82 in 18 ODIs in 2006, Rahul Dravid has enough reasons to smile
Wait till he wins icc best captain award.

Please don't compare Ganguly with Dravid. Dravid is no match to Ganguly as far ODI is concerned. Don't forget that Dravid would have been out of the indian team had Ganguly not utilised him as wicket keeper. It was due to Ganguly's greatness that Dravid is present in the team.

Performers should be given chance
by Raza on Sep 23, 2006 09:15 AM

Time for Sehwag,Yuvraj,Dhoni to play domestic cricket and let Kaif, Raina, Mongia get more opportunity to stable the middle order in ther Indian Team. Chapell needs to stop experimenting.

With the past records a player can't hold his feet in the team until he performs consistently.

Apreciate the bowlers and the should be in the Group2 as per the contract.

talent alone is not enough
by manoj namboodiri on Sep 23, 2006 07:01 AM

It was frustrating to watch the Indians give away a match they had nicely sewn together.
Where did they go wrong ?
Granted the top order collapsed early ..but there was a good enoughfightback while Dhoni and Mongia were around. AfterDhoni fell, all it needed was two things
1. other batsmen to hold their bats straight and defend
2.Mongia to go for runs and farm the strike .
Neither of the two happened.

Therefore what was missing was a professional disciplined approach , something teh australians do relentlessly .
Take any top 10 list of batsmen and you 'll have Sachin, Sehwag, Dravid (and Ganguly ?) in them. Which other team can bast of this ?
Pathan, Harbhajan (andKumble) are very good bowlers as well. Dhoni is the most exciting striker of teh ball.
All this yet not enough discipline ?
India will seriously need to introspect on this match if they are to make some preparations for the world cup

Same old story
by Jyotirmoy on Sep 23, 2006 06:34 AM

Same old script.
Aussies thrash India.
Dravid's "Wall" seem to crack open whenever he faces Lee, McGrath or any other Aussie. Same goes for Tendu, Sehwag.. Where is the performance when required?

Indian Cricketers - Over rated, over hyped, over paid.

Lee pace or Indian stupidity
by anomitra bhattacharya on Sep 23, 2006 02:22 AM

Much is being said about Lee's bowling but I think it was more of the Indian's stupidity that resulted in their snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. True, Lee bowled well in the initial stage of the innings & India's cause was not helped by some wrong umpiring decision (Dhoni's out on a no ball & Harbhajan wrongly declared to have nicked the ball, but these things do happen in cricket). But the way India's lower order batsman applied themselves only shows their abyssmal stupidity when common sense was the need of the day. Anybody watching the telecast might have noted Jeff Thomson's comment on this issue. Well, the Australian's will continue to dominate teams like West Indies (remember how they caved in just a few matches ago when victory was very much in sight) & teams from the subcontinent just because of their superior intelligence & fighting skills. What was Dhoni trying to prove while trying to hit Brett Lee for a six???? Why was Agarkar trying to hit across the line when the situation demanded playing straight???? What was Dinesh Mongia & the tail enders trying to achieve when taking single of the last ball & exposing the lesser batsman to the likes of Lee & Mcgrath????
