Captain should be Sourav Ganguly. Yea, I know he has not smashed 100's yet in domestic cricket, but he is definitely better than when he was so harshly kicked out of the team by Chappel and Kiran More. Dravid's captaincy is weak, lacks imagination, follows only a set gameplan, and come on, lets face it ... the captain right now IS Greg Chappel.
If Ganguly can go back to domestic cricket, then so can Sehwag and Raina. They are not performing, and their selection is very questionable. Get Laxman back to the team for the middle order.
The team selection should read: 1. Sourav Ganguly (captain) 2. Sachin Tendulkar 3. VVS Laxman 4. Yuvraj Singh 5. Rahul Dravid 6. MS Dhoni (wk) 7. Irfan Pathan 8. Harbhajan Singh 9. Anil Kumble 10. Zaheer Khan 11. Munaf Patel 12. Mohammad Kaif (sub him in alot as a fielder)
Rest of the Squad: 13. Dinesh Mongia 14. Ajit Agarkar 15. Gautam Gambhir ... also, if Balaji is fit, take him over Munaf.
I guarantee this team will be unstoppable. its very well balanced, solid, and rotating Kaif and Kumble in the team as per pitches will provide us with either 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers OR 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers.
Can any one tell me what has Jaffar done to be back in the team, I think its very un fair on Gambhir, I also think Mongia and Raina have been very lucky to in the team. Unless we change the Zone wise Selection process, we wont be able to be world beaters.
I want to say that the behaviour of the team on the field and off the field is not up to mark.There must be some restrictions to the team player for dancing on the small media .
The team is good..though with the worst performances in the recent past. I wish Ganguly would find a place in the Squad and that would make a complete team......... without him, I can never say it is competitive team and Team India would have another disappointment at stake.....Trust me!
the selected team is quite good but i still feel bad for someone like Ramesh Powar. After playing just 1 match in the champions trophy and with figures of 24/3, still not making the team is simply unbelievable. i had many expectations from chairman of selectors Mr.Dilip Vengsarkar, but i m sorry to say that i m a bit dissapointed. many questions r going to be asked : why sreesanth wasnt selected for d champions trophy at first place? why wasnt kumble selected for the tournament even when d event was taking place in india and i think i dnt have to mention kumble's home record i guess !! why is irfan pathan being sent again n again at no.3?? i guess now a days even a 5 year old kid wud tell u who's gonna come to bat at no.3 for india. the no.3 position shud b used to surprise d opposition. why dhoni wasnt given d opportunity to bat up d order even once?? why wasnt ramesh powar played against australia?? why was suresh raina persisted when someone like mohd. kaif was around or even dinesh mongia?? in d end i wud like to tell d indian team jst one thing, and its dat 'jaago india jaago......agar tum nahi jaage to hum jagaayenge tumhe'
THis team looks FAR from the team that Dada led...Nothing against Dravid, but the team really looks very weak, and not even good enough to be in the top 3, let alone be a serious contender for the World CUp, or pose any serious threat to SA. Ofcourse, they might occasionally come up with a win or two, but even that...it totally lacks the conviction and morale-enthusing wins that Dada's team had...Let's hope something good happens soon...
bring in ganguly nd tedulkar as opener .... sehwag should be rested for sumtime..... with this the team combination will get better nd team will perform well............... the best way to to make indian team perform is to remove greg chappel.....
