Allah kare tour khatm ho!
by Hemant on Nov 29, 2006 10:12 AM

This is the body language of all including our coach. The tour is in shambles, yes Akram. When all our opponent great fast bowlers like Wasim Akram,Allan Donald realise that we should have Laxman and Ganguly with us,why the team management did not realise that?Even our ex coach and selectors like Gaekowad,Wadekar are commenting openly to bring back Ganguly and Laxman, wadekar went ahead in commenting the even today the Ganguly-Tendulkar pair could be the most devastating openeing pair.Hmm, we all understand that but we don't do it.It would not be far away if our players play like this and "Allah ka naam pe kuch de de baba" chant is heard!

Bingoooooo!!!!!!!
by gaurav on Nov 29, 2006 10:09 AM

Bingooo is the word that i can use here with this material of the article, well said Mr Akram. In india we people are trying to pull down greg(no doubt he is one factor for team india performing bad) but everyone needs to think over that what all our players doing in the field, nobody can come and help them on the field not even vengaskar visit to south africa.Sachin has gone down drastically what he is not able to think is that going into this shell is not helping him as well as the team in broader perspective,he has to match the abilities of lara and ponting for me at this time of era he has no doubt accomplished a lot but is he really doing justice to what he has achieved?????One factor i would also raise is Rahul's captaincy what is he doing just making dejected faces standing in the slip's when his bowlers are going all over the park,i think its his prime responsibilty to over to his players at that time and give a pat behind them, for a good team the captain should be strong unfortunately he is not(no doubt about his batting capabilities),this is where ganguly is missed for his aggressive mood all the time even when the spirits are down.........

Akram's honest assessment
by raj on Nov 29, 2006 09:32 AM

By far this is the most honest assessment of the Indian team performance.

India's cricketers have grown richer and therefore hautier as well. Why would Irfan go to Akram who helped him make his career now when he beleives he is a star.

Also, what is coach doing. Folks like Sunny Gavaskar, Shastri and Akram are there to help tne team out. I am sure one session would help the team.

We have lived with mediocrity else why we would pick Agarkar who is one in a 20 game player.

Disagree

Yes we fell down our level but there is a difference between being Lara and being Sachin. Being Sachin, even though you score the maximum number of runs and bailed your team to many victories you still get ridiculed but Lara will not be, even if he plays a rash stroke and gets bowled like he did against India in the champions trophy. Yes Sachin level of playing has gone down that is acceptable. It would be a good idea to let Sachin come 2 down.Or May be Six down like lara and show that he can score 50s at six down coz there is no juice in bowling, ball is not hard, easy to take singles and much better to slog at the death. But when Sachin is dropped Ravi comes back and say your best batsman needs more time at the crease. Too many cooks spol the recipe and in Sachin's case it did.

Well said Akram !
by Ravi on Nov 29, 2006 06:22 AM

Wasim is very correct in his opinion about Sachin, Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel. However, his view on Ganguly's return is still worth a debate.

well said Mr Akram
by ajm on Nov 29, 2006 06:21 AM

There is no second opinion about what the legendry says.He is spot on specially about Munaf Patel he seem over 124 years old no doubth about it he should take VRS and so is feilding is poor.We indian are just dreaming in a broad day light of winning the world cup.Forget about winning world cup at least win a match???.All said so our players are over paid and they are just taking things for granted. They should be paid on performance that's for sure. Its high time the selector's should do something about it.So we do not have to see our indian cricket team going down the drain as our hockey team.

Wasim Akram's analysis
by Kalyanasundaram Venkatesh on Nov 29, 2006 05:27 AM

Print this Akram's piece of words and give to all the players+captain+coach in SA. Every word of Akram reveals the true status of Team India there in SA. Nothing wrong to accept the words from the legend even if he is from Pak. Since Akram is concerned on Indian Cricket, he spelled out those words. We need to appreciate Akram for this. Hi guys, if you cant learn and deliver, then, go back to those legends and learn from them. We dont have the luxury of carrying all the non-performers to any overseas assignments. Does anybody in BCCI including DBV understand Akram's words?

Learn a Lesson

I totally agree with Wasim Akram. He is spot on. I hope the Indian selectors have heard what he has said and learn from their mistakes and make sensible and wise decisions. I hope they take action soon before its too late. If India has to perform good in the coming World cup, they would have to bring in the attitude that we had in Ganguly's captaincy. Its high time now that we should stop ignoring quality players like Laxman & Ganguly.

This is a passionate cricketer...
by Gagan on Nov 29, 2006 04:46 AM

Akram is spot on..both sachin and Pathan. He is not mincing words, or comingout with cliched statements that even an ordinary cricket fan can come out with! His experience of having been there shows. Every bowler is on the defensive the moment Lara starts playing..even if he gets out, doesnt matter, but for as long as he is there, there is the threat. Sachin was same in 2003 WC. Aussies knew they won the cup the moment Sachin got out. Management shld decide what role sachin has to play. In my opinion,if sachin has to open, he should come out firing, no point leaving balls outside offstump. In fact he shld look to dominate even in the coming test series. He may get out for a 20/30 in first two innings, but he is too good a player to not score! Important thing is he shld follow tht mindset and just continue with it. But absence of Dravid is only gonna put him in his shell more. It is time for some other players to raise up their hands!!!
