S.AFRICA TOUR
by jyoti kanungo on Nov 18, 2006 10:15 PM

Indian team does not look like a world-beater and their performance in S.Africa has been dismal. The weakness still persists. With aging Sachin, diffident Sehwag it is going to be uphill task. One thing we can do. We can unleash our nascent pace brigade on S.Africa batsmen. We must ask them to increase pace and aim at ribs even though it means some additional runs. You must surprise them and they will be scared. And ask Tendulkar and Sehwag to go after them even if they score 20 that must come from six balls.

Rahul is superb

What Rahul would be able to do alone. It's a team game he needs other ten players to perform often.

Dravid and Indian Cricket Team

It is not as though it is entirely up to Dravid to guide the destiny of the Indian Cricket team now in South Africa, though he does try hard to lead by example. As we have seen so often, he has been 'the wall' that doesn't crack up easily, while the other ten guys hardly manage to contribute as consistently.

The one need is a highly overpowering collective zeal from every member, and a determination to perform consistently in every outing. And to have the sharp 'killer' instinct to go for the throat of the opponent team if there is even a remote possibility of a win. But our cricket team reflects our national psyche, soft, satisfied, and submissive in an aggressive environment.
Indian cricket is not about just one Sachin Tendulkar, one Dravid, one Dhoni or one Pathan. It is about eleven guys sweating out for glory out in the field, be it for one-day, or for five days. Team work should not begin and end with just huddling together in the field.

Greg Chappel should work more on strengthening the players' minds, rather than overworking them through rock climbing or injuring them through kho-kho games with shoes.

M. Shankar.

I agree. Kepler Wessels is playing mind game here. Inirectly he is degrading Dravid so that he will not perform against SA.

He is the one who leads from the front. Enough Wessels concentrate on your life don't interfere in other's

I entirely agree with the comments.Captain is as good as the team not the otherway around. If the players need a motivation to perform then thay dont deserve to be in the team.Acc to me our loophole lies in the selection policy, look at australians,if a player is not in form and doesn't score or take wickets he's out of their plans untill he proves himself again. Can u imagine a beven, clarke, gillespie, katich, hayden or a martin out of an indian team if they were to be Indians.
