What Happened to the form????
by Snehasish Rout on Jan 23, 2006 07:02 PM

Chappel choose Yuvraj over Ganguly on the logic of the former having a better form than the later. But after watching Yuvi bat, one could not help but feel for Ganguly. True that the former Indian skipper has lost some of his touch, but there are still at least one year left in him to play his majestic cover drives to the delight of the cricket fans. Sachin Tendulkar seems to be out of form as well, but the tour selection committee is persisiting on his inclusion. Shewag was out of form for most part of the Srilankan tour, but there was no cry for his outster. But, when it comes to Dada, every one seems to be in the Mission Ganguly Outster. Its time that Chappel should realise his mistakes and bring Ganguly back to the team. Harbhajan should be shown the way.

Well Said!!!
by Sumeet Kohli on Jan 23, 2006 06:56 PM

I have read many articles on cricket on Rediff.com and mind you I haven't missed any from past 6 months. One noticeable comment about the author is the way he summarises it. I would be glad to know who is currently doing this write ups.

Not deviating from the topic. I think Dhoni and Pathan are the new ammunition of the Indian Team and we need to find a few more youngsters like them with this kind of attitude and temprament. Pathan having a disastrous bowling spells and still managing responsibility of batting at no.6 is quite splendid. Hope the senior learn from their juniors sometimes.

Don't say Dravid was decent he is Decent enough now also, He was decent enough to give ganguly the chance to play, open the innings when the person is not ready to accept who the hell is going to be concerned anymore.

Remember Sachin

Sachin has to leave his phobia of playing defensive shots. He has to play his natural game, otherwise just sit in the pavillion and better to watch how the young indian tigers are playing their penchant shots.

dont forget what happened to kumble
by krishna on Jan 23, 2006 06:44 PM

i think ganguly is facing the same music as happened to kumble where he was not selected in the tests in the overseas because he cant spin nor field properly.
when it comes to Ganguly why one should make a huge cry of it, what was the pathethic indian media doing when kumble was dropped no hype, no strike, nothing as such, no comments from the former cricketer other than Bedi and Azhar who came in Kumble support. Mr Ganguly deserves this treatment , he cant field nor contribute to the bat. Ganguly famous quotes " Youngesters should always be given a chance" , Rembering this he should retire. People should not forget Kumble did not pickup 490 wickets from thin air, well Ganguly too scored 100000 runs but kumble's effort are much effective compared to Ganguly

Kudos to the duo as they did what their illustrious seniors could not. Sachin Tendulkar of late seems to be content scoring in inept matches that does not need his enormous skills; or is it that his skills have now only fit for such matches? Otherwise, what can you say to an experienced campaigner that when his services were most needed, he often fails to deliver. Maybe it is time, the selectors forget their awe over his personality and look at him as a mere mortal. Maybe then, he will merit the same treatment as Ganguly did.

Tendulkar needs Rest...
by Suhas Muchandi on Jan 23, 2006 06:43 PM

Tendulkar needs to be rested & allow Ganguly to play for the next Test Match. The chappel rules should applicable to all players, "player not performing should be dropped from playing side". I never seen innings from tendulkar playing like Lara, Kallis who can win matches for the team single handedly.

another wonder boy of indian cricket is given the same treatment as azhar

Both did a fine job one scoring three 100 on debu and other is the most sucessful captain of indian cricket.

But it is a tradition in indian cricket all the captains are given a sad farewell.

Give Saurav a break--->Rest Tendulkar
by Girish on Jan 23, 2006 06:02 PM

The team\'s strategy of playing 5 bowlers has backfired. Added to this, our team would have been in soup if \'surefire\' Dhoni, \'dependable\' & dashing allrounder Pathan did not deliver. Saurav\'s experience would have definitely helped a lot. Let us hope our team gets a cue from us, rest \'out of form\' Tendulkar & give Saurav \'the break\' which he badly needs. The dead pitches in Pakistan will give much need relief to Saurav(if he clicks) which he needs desperately at this point of time.
