Drop Sehwag and Kaif ,says Kapil
by Dr.Kumar on Apr 11, 2006 07:16 PM

Kapil might have gone nuts.
He has forgotton his younger days when we used to keep him outside the team for lack of consistancy in bowling wicket taking balls or even balls anywhere near the stumps.
He got the break and because of the cosistant efforts of the then team management of yesteryear to keep trying him, even after continuous filure,he became one of the best in the world.

Agreeing with Kapils Views...
by Sreeraj on Apr 11, 2006 06:32 PM

I just wonder, how Kaif is there in the team still...Law should be same for each and every player.. We didn't forget the Ganguly issue..
Now, if Dravid want Kaif to regain his touch, then why don't he tell kaif to open the innings with Sehwag or to put him first wicket down? He is playing fast bowlers very well.. But, the captain is still experimenting with Pathan and himself. Instead he should give Kaif more chance to play the Pace bowlers..
And regarding the World Cup hopes, we can not rate the team now. Because, the current performances are all in the Subcontinent only.. We can rate the team only after a foreign tour to Australia , England or New Zealand.

Are the better players in the domestic circuit?
by Khader on Apr 11, 2006 05:40 PM

Kaif was doing well in the domestic circuit and also during the warm up matches with England. This earned him a place in the ODI squad.

While I agree that non-performing players should be dropped, I would like to ask if there are enough player on the domestic level who can play well at the international arena?

If there are players in the domestic circuit who are better than Sehwag or Kaif then please do let them play. But simply saying that X, Y, Z has to be dropped doesn't make sense when you are not sure if the A, B, C who would replace them will be any good.

If Kapil can come up with the names of some players in the domestic circuit who deserve a spot in out team, it wud be wonderful.

I understand one has take chances with youngsters with little or no experience. But this has to be done in phases, we cannot have a completely new Indian eleven for the next match. And this is already being carried out. We have already found a good batsman in Raina. Raina seems to be a good player and might replace Kaif in the lower middle order.

Similarly if there is a opener in the domestic circuit who is better than Sehwag then he wud certainly make it to the team.

about Sehwag
by venu on Apr 11, 2006 05:30 PM

I thought that Now the Indian is very Strong because few Alround players like phatan Dhoni, Raina are enter exposing their well performence. Now Sehwag isn't playing well. But we need that kind of player as a opener. Because he is getting runs in few balls at that time our run rate will be going to increase. so we need Sehwag.
thank you

Performance counts
by Santosh Singh on Apr 11, 2006 05:10 PM

Kapil has made a bold statement by referring the non-performer to sit on bench. People with consistent performance only need to be inside the team. Selectors should remove this untouchable label from few players at the same time prejudiced arrogant behaviour against other players.
