Prasannaa Ganesan
role in the team
by Prasannaa Ganesan on Nov 18, 2005 12:17 PM

Ganguly is primarily a batsmen who can just bowl a bit on bowler friendly pitches or in overcast conditions. The statement he has made about taking 14/15 wickets in a domestic competition and scoring a 100 in one of them seems incomplete to me without him having to mention that he disturbed the scorers to add a wicket to wickets column of the scoreboard in two innings in succession.

It would have been nice on his part to say " having just got a pair in the last match , I will need to compensate that with a pair of tons to claim a place in the indian team." Till then he should have remained silent like what he has done so far since he was shown the exit doors.

I being an ardent fan of Ganguly, believe that he should work harder and score more runs in whatever chances comes his way. There is no substitute to scoring tons of them.

He may play any order but we dun want
by Vivek Shandilya on Nov 18, 2005 09:37 AM

Saurav Ganguly , i was big fan of him at one time, can't remember any other batsman, played so courageously and sky high sixes. Who can forget the Sahara series against Pakistan or world cup match against Sri Lanka. But that was 6 years ago and now the legendary Ganguly is lost somewhere, neither he bowls nor can he bat and above all he is one of the worst fielders in India. Now he may say he can play any role , but he would spoil the rapport between players and nothing else, and most importantly Dravid would also be always suspicious for his captaincy. We dun want that , we dun want any lobby in our team like the old days. Why dun he retire with respect and dignity and accept his failure , we would all give him a standing oviation!!!

It is a sad state not only for Indian cricket, but for cricket as a whole....Mind u, this is not Gnaguly's loss, but it is a loss to the entire cricketing fraternity....

Nothing against Dravid....But Sourav IS THE LEADER and SHOULD BE THE LEADER....

Why you didnt accept any other role before
by Abhijit on Nov 18, 2005 03:32 AM  | Hide replies

When advised by coach to leave captaincy for the sake of batting, saurav took it in wrong way. Today he is ready to accept any role because his comeback in the team seems difficult. Earliar had he behaved in dignified manner and concentrated on his game he would not have been out of the team.
Saurav was relishing the past glory and expected to continue for long. He thought so because he had strong backing in BCCI. He unnecessarily politicized the issue to show his power. Why he did not accept his failure honestly and worked on that earliar. Heroes are always reverred. But if they do not exhibit dignified behaviour then they are treated miserably. Now Saurav is getting taste of that.
Good luck saurav.
We expect your arrival. At the same time we also expect that you will not promote politics in the team that will hurt team India

well are u the self proclaimed CEO of indian cricket. And why are u a ganguly hater. Has he done anything wrong to you.
BTW ganguly's average in spite of all the poor form is 41 in ODI and 42 in tests. Can you name many batsmen who has this feat in the world.

It is not a question of one person. We should consider what the majority of the cricket fans wants, not the few people from one state. How can anyone say i'm ready to play at any role when nobody asked to do so. It shows his confidence. Its so disgusting.

Desperate
by Bob on Nov 18, 2005 12:20 AM

He is desperate to get into the team which is every cricket player's aim. But giving the reason that he has a good record in the past to get into the team is not acceptable. The way you perform now is what is needed for the team and records of the past will not help any team to win. Final thing I would like to say is "WORK OF THINGS LIKE WHY PEOPLE HATE YOU MORE". I think it is your arrogance.

To all those who try to defend ganguly by saying that he has a terrific record:::

The record was created years ago. That is history now. Agree that he WAS a good player and a great timer of the ball.
Cut to present, all the timimg has fumed in the air. Short deliveries are scaring him. Let him get back his form first , then he can join the team

Ganguly ready for any role

If India truly had professional cricket, the country would be able to see thier best and brightest at play even when they don't make the "national" team - they wouldn't necessarily have to in order to stay on. The first thing India needs to do is get rid of the Min. of Sports and the meddling netas and babus and let the private sector create a professional system like that of baseball in the US.

support for dada

if sachin is 10+dulkar

ganguly is 100+rav

if saurav is sidelined just for his poor from, it will not be a long time to see him back in action.. but if he is sidelined for some petty politics, Indian team will be in big trouble.

I don't understand why he has written such a comments. First of all we should understand that india is winning without ganguly and it is not advisible to change the winning combinations. By the way way the whole world has seen ganguly's ability. The golden two ducks in domestic match. How can he play against south africans. He is out of form. There is no doubt about it.
