While we spare a thought for Chopra, let us also spare a thought for Sadagopan Ramesh. Technically, Ramesh is a far better player than Chopra. While the others failed in the tour matches, Ramesh looked solid in the middle, only to be dropped for the first test. Chopra was very courageous in his knock and lady luck smiled on him several times. The normally safe hands of Aussies started dropping catches of Chopra, and when they did catch, the bowlers had overstepped. Chopra's limitations were masked by Sehwag's brilliance at the other end. Poor Ramesh was not even considered for a place without a try at the top. Let us spare a thought for him first!
No doubt Chopra seems to be a solid opening batsman . He gives a glimps of Chetan Chauhan. He needs to be nurtured. But to my opinion SADAGOPAN RAMESH is still the best opening batsman India has today. Why is he being given such a step motherly treatment. If he is not considered for the slot. Yuvraj is undobtedly a man for the position, not Chopra.
The present Indian team is setting examples of emotionlessness such as declaration at MULTAN. They are forgetting team is nothing but a collective harmonious action of individual members. Should the members be treated like this. By that feat Sachin would have equalled the records of DRAVID and GAVASKAR of making four double hundreds. Dravid was the captain.
Rediff anticipates Chopra will be out because he did not deliver and is out of form. If so what about Rahul who has not scored last two games and Sachin who has disappointed us in the second test. Rahul says he did not have the hindsight that Inia will lose 4 wickets before lunch on the first day of second test. But every body, even laymen, knew that Pak prepared a special pitch that was bowler friendly to suit them. There was a tinge of grass on the surface and it was moist on first day morning. Our bowlers should have exploited the virgin pitch that day. Having won the toss, it was a bad mistake that Rahul did not elect to bowl!
Your comments on the issue are very true. But it is not correct to discuss such delicate issues. You have said yuvraj can't be dropped. Then whom do you want to drop to accomodate Chopra.Sachin or sehwag or dravid or ganguly. The Indian team has picked itself.Chopra is relatively the weakest link in the side.Take it or leave it.The only alternatively may be to drop out of form Ganguly. If possibe discuss about it.
its very tough for indian managment to take decision about indian 11 for next test at pindi . if chopra is not succesfull in one test but this is not justic for him to keep him out from the indain squad . and yuvraj singh is also strong containder for next test but i will go for yuvraj singh , he is attacking and technically good to be as opener ,rest other depend on indian managment. well as the someone has to quit from indian squad to make place for saurav , but question is this can saurav will really fire for him all this are going ? and what about nehra inclusion in indian squad ? now the competion is between nehra and agarkar ? lets see what will happen and what will be final indian team for next test
It does not matter what he had done in past the thing that really matter is what is he doing now and capable of doing in future, he was a failure in this series, and should India drop yuvraj who is in great form and take up chopra for what he had done in the past? it is not the right thing to do, if that is the case the the first man to go out will be none other than Ganguly himself, he was failure in ODI's how can team management believe he will score better than chopra or Yuvraj?
It's not a wise decision to drop chopra. He's been a promising cricketer and a committed youngster. I wud better feel that Ganguly rests back for the third test too, coz he's just come back after a injury and there's no promise that he can do well. And this poor youngster has a lot to do and the most important thing is to feed him with confidence. It's better to make the better player to give his best.
Infact Ganguly should not be playing as there is no contribution in terms of batting nor fielding. Akash Chopra apart from being an opener he is a very good fielder. Ganguly thinking of the team should decide to step down and be out of the team.
if the team selection were to go entirely by form, then its going to be ganguly who sits out as the out of form player and hes coming back from injury as well!i feel like should replace like and therefore the choice should be between yuvraj and ganguly and on form and utility, Yuvraj wins hands down!chopra should never be a part of this equation.
