11 players have to play. Leaving Chopra out for the final test does not mean the end of days for him. It is a normal team swap that is as common as Nehra replacing Agarkar. Thats it. Don't give too much stress on what Chopra feels, how hard Ganguly has been in this comments. Comments and media speculation mean nothing.
well chopra is in a batting side, where his throat is on the knife edge all the time. barring tendulkar and say Ganguly, no one's safe from the axe. Ganguly more so for his captaincy. chopra went into the shell and cut down his shots, no score for a long time and a constant comparison to sehwag or say gavaskar took the toll on him. he stereotyped himself into a la gavaskar mode and did the job. but my friend aakash , alls well and alls forgiven till india wins , the moment we loose the axe is gonna wound someone.
I fully agree with the authors view. Aakash is the best opening batsman Inadia has seen in the recent years. dont understand the logic of sehwag and uvarj opening the innings. I am afraid the test may end within three days. Ganguly should mind his statements, he should now the he is not indispansable.
Well no doubt that Chopra IS a very good player...but recent runs have not been very inspiring...and moreover, the interest of the team comes first...that too when the team is on the verge of creating history that too in Pakistan!!!! Go India Make us proud!!! Take the crown from the proud Kangaroos!!!!!
it true akash has been dealt in a way which could dmage his confidence greatly..and also show the lack of confidence in the indian team after their second test loss..but since its a decider and the results count more than personal sentiments..its good to know a inform batsmen is included and th4e team is ready to make anycompromise to win this rubber..hope they dont let us down...keep focussed guys
This selection is for PINDI TEST .He is definately going to bein Indian side ,he is going to come strong.Everyone has to keep them selves on their toes maintain yourselves in the team.
It is immaterial what a particular player has done for his team, what is important is what he is going now and what he is going to do in the next test match.
It is obvious that if someother player is performing well and is in good knick then he should be continued in the team. Also a player like ganguly cannot be considered to make way for any rookie player. Obviously he should play and take his place in the team with both hands. As a captain gangulay has always lead from the front and this time also he will lead from the front. ideal combination will be Yuvraj and sehwag should open the innings and Ganguly should strengthen the batting line in the middle.
Faisal, you have proved that you are the true successor of Prem by criticizing Ganguly at every given opportunity. Here are few things you might want to consider.
1)Indian players don't read newspaper during a test series (thanks to the irresponsible guys like you).
2)The people who constantly remind Chopra about this issue, are part of the media (like you).
3)Chopra's ability to stay at the wicket for long hours hasn't become the liability. What has become a liability is his inability to convert the starts into something substantial. Ask yourself one question, what use Chopra's 30s and 40s would be if others don't perform and he's in the team as a genuine batsman..right ?
4)What will you call a player who doesn't learn from his past mistakes ? We have read 10-15 interviews of Chopra after the Australian series that he was satisfied with his contributation. That's a dangerous thing to say when you have not made a single hundred.
5)Since we are playing with only 6 genuine batsman, all of them should take the responsibility. There will be days when Sachin, Dravid, Laxman will fail, does Chopra has it in him to take the responsibility (Like Yuvraj did) ?
I feel Faisal has assumed quiet a lot than said in this article.Ganguly's statements doesn't seem to mean what Faisal puts forward as the title of discussion. Neither Ganguly himself or John have made statements doubting Chopra's credentials or his role played so far. This is a stop gap arrangement to accomodate an in form batsman and look forward for historic series win.
We should also remember that we are in an age where even the most successful indian captain finds his place jeopardised with a fortnight's absence. Instead of being emotional on an individual's past success it's time to choose a team which has higher chances to succeed.
To end it Ganguly deserves to in more as one who can lead the team to success than a batsman.
