Hello everyone , do you guys know that in that epic record breaking school game partnership between Sachin and Kambli , kambli was the top scorer . You ask anyone from that era who played school cricket against these guys and they will vouch for the fact that Kambli was a better player , having such a lot of time for his strokes and he could go on batting.I know this sounds blasphemous to most of us but it is true . I do believe he lost the plot once he made it big , but I hope that he has got it all back in his head .If he makes it back to the Indian test team and starts playing like he is capable of ,our middle order will be complete and tough as nails. Kudos to Rediff to get Kambli back on people's mind.
It is very happy to see your committment to come back to Indian team. If you work hard and concentrate on your fitness iit is not a difficult task for a quality player like you to get back to Indian team soon.
yes... I am pretty sure if u work hard, u will achieve ur goal.... I think we need either Kambli or Jadeja in the team to prop up our team with another experienced player... This will help... We can't keep on having Laxman living in the memory of his 281 against Australia.. If Laxman does not score, he must be dropped for Kambli or jadeja or some other player.. Give the ignored players a chance.. They can either bring glory or will not disturb the current situation...
I agree with Kambli that the selectors have not been fair with him. He played some amazing innings for India, including back-to-back double hundreds. His average, 56plus is more than most of those playing today for the country. He was dropped on what looked like disciplinary grounds after the 1995-6World cup.
Unfortunately, he was never given an opportunity to win his rightful place back in the Indian test squad. The selectors must have another close look at him when he plays the Irani Trophy match. Aloke lal
I strongly believe that selectors were not given him
chances at right time.Who will forget the selectors asking him to open innings against Imran Khan and Wasim akram in his first one day game.He still did his best.He desesrves another chance to prove his talent. Goodluck Vinod.
I am Shibu Ambrose, who stays in Ahmedabad but basically from Kollam, Kerala. I am a die-hard fan of Kambli and even look like him.
Yes, what Vinod Kambli is saying is absolutely right. I too (not only me but there are so many who will support blindly of what Kambli said) feel that the then selectors did harsh on him and that is the reason he could not come up.
When Kamlbi & Tendulkar were studying in 8th standard Kambli was selected but not Tendulkar. Very few know about this. You cannot deny the fact that Kambli is talented but the selectors are not nurturing it.
I strongly believe that Kambli shut every critics' mouth by performing well and did it in S. Africa. 365 runs from 5 matches. Yes, he is a happy go jolly guy that does not mean that he is not sincere about his work.
vinod found place in the indian team because of his name often got associated with sachin, most of their memorable innings played at school level were the reason for this association, however sachin always had strong backers like gavaskar shastri et al;they were convinced of his potential but such was not the case with kambli. The social background of kambli was not conducive for him, he had very few backers as compared to sachin. During the hero cup in 91-92 sachin was a disaster with the bat all along but he was not rested, whereas, kambli always provided a solid start playing one down throughout the tournament. Despite this he was made to play at no 5 during the newzland tour which followed, this was done at the behest of gavaskar who in his coloum rooted for sachin opening the innings, and as a result sachin regained his form and kambli never got enough balls to play and score runs, if we look at the result thereafter we will find that as a team india lost most of the matches whereas sachin became a master blaster and kambli was soon out of the indian team. Indian cricket is also influenced by factors other than merit and as a result we r yet to become world beaters.
