Australia's Win over India
by Sanjay Khapre on Dec 30, 2003 11:39 AM

Although Australia won the test, it's we Indians who are lacking in vision, that despite of the Adelaide win, we Indians (I mean the playing eleven, and that too not just the captain), forgot that the series didn't end with the test that we won. The blame goes to this Indian team, that they squandered the advantage of keeping the Australian team at bay. Indians should have constantly applied the pressure, the kind of electric atmosphere and spirit they have started showing against Pakistan, same should have been shown against Australia, instead they remained content at winning only one match. They should have kept in mind that if they win one match against Aussies, Aussies will come back roaring and can win the next ten matches against to avenge this loss. The Indians played with lack lustre attitude and put themselves down by sheer lack of application. If they at all care for the billion Indians back home, then now they must, I repeat, must win the Sydney test, and that too with a huge margin. Best of luck to Saurav Ganguly and his team from this passionate fan of the Indian team.

The miracle that wasn't
by RJM on Dec 30, 2003 11:36 AM

You should be living in fool's paradise to ask the question: will India win the final test. India wins once in 22 years away from home. You expect next win in, hum..., 2025? Yeah, I might be overly pessimistic, but India should be world's no. 1 when it comes to throwing a game off from an advantageous position. India had that advantage on December 26, as it began the day one-up in the series. I should say that day, too, belonged to India. Shame, what happened on December 27 and, come again, on December 29? Like it or not, India is too inferior a side to win the decider in Sydney. And about us? We have reduced ourselves to praying to the heavens for opening showers on March 23, 2003 (remember this?), and a "miracle" (nothing short of that) today. The miracle that wasn't, Yo cuz!!

i understand the comments made by sunny about parthiv patel for the wicket keeping that he needs to play in Ranjit trophy first and get used to the spin bowling but as far as i can see he is keeping the wickets nicely. ok he needs bit time but he is good in batting also so if given a chance to him he can be the best wicket keeper for indian team as he is still young and he tries to give 100% when he is in the field. so sunny giv a lil boy some time rather then givin comments about him all the time and please give the comments for those players who is not doing good even though they have done extreamly well in ranjit trophies or other local games.

1-1

the indian team has given away the advantage to the home team after all the initial hard work. all that was needed was one spirited perfomance from the visitors, sadly wwhich did not happen. i see two major reasons for this defeat, which was evident right fromthe first session of day 2. one tendulkar duck in the first inning, which might be hard on him. his wicket was so crucial in the the sense it has given away the time to the home, also exposing the captain to the new ball. the other is the bowlers, they have let down the visitors miserably both with ball and bat. they could not give even a faintest support to the batsman when the side was batting, scored mere 8 runs for t eir quota of 8 wickets, andd could not take even 2 wkts when the pitch was very much coonducive to the bowling in their second outing.
i dont know how the third test is going to be. i feel its high time for the little champion to show what he is made of to this ...

The biggest hitch is the lack of consistency in our players. In the previous match Dravid and Laxman played like God and won us the match. But it is the
psychological problem of not being as serious and a fear of success that our team loses .
They need to play themselves into the mind of the opponent team only then they can win consistently.

Winning or loosing is no matter to a true sportsman. All the same our efforts should be to the optimimum with dedication and commitment.Consistancy shoud me maintained and improve our standards by all means like quality in bowling , bating and fielding and particularty steadyness. then results are bound to come in those favor who ever does theabove.

It like a keeping a oil lamp in the wind and praying god to protect frm the wind. first of all our efforts should be made to protect the light.

Indian team is also a very strong team. No doubt about it. India only made it possible winning against Australians and breaking their contineous victories.

we have very good chances of winning the final test in Sydney satarting from 2nd January.

wishing our Indian cricket team members all the very bet and bring rubber to India with a great victiry in the final test.

I am sure it will happen.

Third Test
by Kaustubh Redkar on Dec 30, 2003 09:36 AM

The Indians deserve this defeat. The side which collapses after a strong start, never to stood up in their second innings also, will face nothing but defeat. There was no need to play zaheer khan with an injured thigh.

Consistency - thy name is Australia, not India !
by Abhik Sengupta on Dec 30, 2003 09:13 AM

Our win in the second test was praiseworthy. However, the euphoria that followed was triggered by more impulse than fact. Australia, through their consistent performance over the years, in both forms of the game, has proven without doubt that they are the best team. And this is irrespective of whether Glen McGrath or Shane Warne is in the team or not. Let us give them the due credit. At the same time, let's pull up our socks and try to win the last and deciding test at Sydney. After all, we are the ones who have the ability to defeat the world champs in both forms of the game too !
