I don't think they are overconfident. Its a matter of luck more that there ability.
I fully enjoy the victory of India too, even if it was a three men show.

were the aussies over confident?
by Ishteyaaq Ahmad on Dec 17, 2003 05:26 PM

Ya.. To some extent they never thought that they could even loose to Indians and in this thought they played over aggrasively which in turn was the reason for the loss On the other hand indians took advantage of this.

Aussies arrogance
by nrsingh on Dec 17, 2003 05:03 PM

More than being overconfident they were arrogant and contemptuous. They believed that no team can beat them.To say that they have been shown their place will be an over statement but the fact remains that they will now think twice before opening their collective mouth lest they put their own dirty foot in it. It will be icing on the cake if the Indians are able to deliver the knock-out punch in the test starting on the boxing day.

let's give the credit to Indian team for beating the australian team ... Whether they were lacking confidence or were over-confident doesnt matter as long as our team wins!!!!!

Cheers!!!!

let's not get the virus
by Samarth on Dec 17, 2003 04:21 PM

Yes, they were in their talks and actions. But let's hope Indians doesn't get the virus and they should not be over-confident for rest of the series, they can easily get into this state of mind (confidence more than required).

This reminds me of two matches between the same two teams. The first one is Bangalore 98, in the inconseqential dead match. Both India and Aussies scoring 400+ in first innings and Kasprowicz doing a la Agarkar, picking 8 wickets in India's second innings setting up an easy 8 wicket win chasing 190 or thereabouts.
The second is the last test match between the teams in India, with Aussies ending Day 1 at 330 odd for 3 and finally Indian barely able to chase 150+ for victory.
The lesson in both these matches - The first day scores were complete antithesis of the end results. It is just too coincidental that both these matches also involved India and Australia.

were the aussies overconfident!!

Man, it really amazes me to see Indans find excuse for Australian defeat.
Whenever India looses, its due to superlative performance of the opposition. Similarly, we won the adelaide test because of the extra-ordinary efforts of the men in blue!!

Lets give credit where its due.....Well done guys...once more please!!!!

yaa, indian have the ability to get rit of australia, but the thing is that of 19 and 20. in most of the casted the india reached in the fine but there moral is not good. this time in australia, they have shown that they can do if they wish. this wish should continue. wish them all the best in australia to win either 1-0 or 3-0 series as well as the tri one day series.
