India can't win against Australia, since they are not mentally prepared any time and the fielding in too bad always. There is no consistency over any of the batsman

Its ridiculous

Indians in general are proven to be effective with stats and sentiments - you should have given this stats well in advance not after the match resumed. You are degrading the moral of the Indians - Lets have a bit of PATRIOTISM and make the Indians feel the support of all of us.

Rajneesh, however, I appreciate your Stats.... GOOD WORK.

Stop thinking negative
by Aniruddha Guha on Dec 05, 2003 12:03 PM

I hope we need lots of self improvement and positive thinking in our India team and ourselves also. We always rate our opponent higher. Why? Rather then believing on there achievement it will be better if we started thinking that what we can do as a team rest will change automatically.

Why India cannot win the test
by Atul on Dec 05, 2003 11:35 AM

Quoting your article - "If Sourav Ganguly had done his homework he would not have asked Australia to bat first after winning the toss. India has never won against Australianeither at home nor in Australiaputting them in after winning the toss."

SO what? conditions are different in every test match and if a captain decides whether to bowl or bat based upon statistics...well God save him! its a funny logic you give. India did not win against Austria in the past because Aussies are that damn good! they still are great today, greatest of all teams. If we manage to draw all the tests, it will be a great feat. Win would be bonus though unlikely, but avoiding a series defeat should be the goal. Sounds negative, but like NZ were happy not to lose in India last month..

Guys, think before you write strong statements like this. Its your opinion okay, but..

stop making them more uncomfortable

I am sure about it that whatever dismal record we have while playing overseas,a large chunk of it goes to the media ,which carries so much negativity, passed on by the elder generation of their own clan, about our cricketers by stating and restating and stating what they had already stated time and again that it gets in to the readers mind too and which pressurises our team also.

What ever the article suggested about"India can't win the test".....I think that there is always a first time so one never knows what's in store for us.

Mindless and MindBlowing

Dear Writer, please understand that matches are not a statistical pattern finding competition, but depend more on pitch, weather, players' confidence, their mindset and many other factors...seems you have played little cricket, and whatever little,it has been in the side stands.

Meaningless statistics and mindless analysis
by Suresh Kumar on Dec 05, 2003 10:42 AM

This article brings q quote to my mind that

-90% of all statistics are made.

In line of the article, i can also say that Australia never a rain-shortened match against india under ganguly(infact, this is the first match). So Australians can only expect to draw the match..

Seemed meaningless?? yes. but the article is also in the same line of thinking.. Showing statistics as evidence for what you want to show.-

What a ludicrous piece!
by Madhav on Dec 05, 2003 10:29 AM

This is indeed tripe of the worst quality. We might as well quit playing sport of any kind and just ask statisticians to "predict" the result. I could not detect even the slightest hint of irony/humour in this short and shabby piece, which makes it all the more difficult to read.

Statistics can not decide every match !
by Pavan Joshi on Dec 05, 2003 10:22 AM

hi
I am surprised why nobody is not ready to accept that we can win beat Australia in Australia .
If we can get Gilchrist wicket early and Our guys
sply Laxman Sachin Dravid and Ganguly can put some runs and score nearly 3.5runs per over we have the chance to win bcoz Aus will put a very tempting target which may be achievable as they want to win Not to draw . So we have a chance in this match if rain stops disturbing .
Dont go by statistcs . It say since Australia won 16 tests contly they will win 17th matcg but we won that series .
u also go by Ganguly's records as Captian . We startred winning a test Match overseas now the time has come for Series win.

Jai Bharat

Be Confident think Positive ( No statistcs only Performance of this match required to win this match )
