Every world cup every four years and every ODI tournament every year which is decided on points system, the indian cricketers manage to make their lives miserable and leave it unto the very last match to scrape through the next round.
I am so outraged by this gutless planning/execution that for once i wish we fail miserably, so that we can bring some sense back to this madness. I feel sorry for all people who spend a lot of time and effort supporting the team and then left to bite their nails.
Dravid and Co. please stop this nonsense and get doing what we know the team is capable of doing. But first, please bow out of this competition.

Rumeer - a very timely observation .. but lets do it one more time .... after all this is World Cup that comes our way only once in 4 years. ....

Pradipta the point i am trying to make is that this is a tournament at the highest level. If a team can't perform at its best it should not remain in there.
I would support a straight knockout tourney. Every round teams are randomly assigned. One who wins progresses. If you have a bad day and lose so be it. This way on its day even Ireland can win the Cup and even Australia can lose it.
This will help stop the rot. I know this will never be implemented 'cause nowadays the marketers/sponsors run this game anyway. Sad!
