The Calculations are wrong !!!
by Atri Dutta on Mar 22, 2007 07:55 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Well, we calculated the required run rates and we dont agree with the calculations that give the conditions required for Bangladesh win. We however do agree that India will have a net run rate of 1.67 if the match is just enough close for an Indian win. I belive Bangladesh has the best shot of overhauling India's run rate by batting second. If Bermuda scores 150 and Bangladesh reaches the target in 11 overs, Bangladesh can better India's net runrate of 1.67 If Bangladesh do bat first, they would need to score around 600 and bowl Bermuda out for 0 - virtually impossible !!!

well, here are the calculations in rough:

150/11 = 13.something (approx 13.7)

net rr in that match = 13.5 - 3 = 10.5

that distributed over 3 matches... gives 3.7

-2 3.7 = 1.7 just betters India's rr of 1.67

:-)

(might be slightly different bcos rain interrupted play and Bangladesh target was revised in SL match: however should not differ much)

typo:

13.7 - 3 = 10.7

10.7/3 = 3.6

Bangladesh = 1.6

(make that 10.something overs and you sld get the exact 1.67)

hi,

Runrate will be calculated in different way...

Current BD runrate -2.002 ( 304/94.5 - 501/96 )

as Bermuda bats first: score 150
BD chase in 11 overs

RR = ( 455 / 104.5 - 651/146 ) = -0.1

If BD chase in 6 overs ( least possible per over 25 runs)

RR = (455/100.5 - 651/146) = -0.095 = = 0.068

then also way behind India...
